It’s trailer madness Wednesday here on /Film. Earlier today we posted the awesome full trailer for Neill Blomkamp’s District 9 and now Universal Pictures has premiered a new red band movie trailer for Judd Apatow’s Funny People. The new uncensored trailer features some of Adam Sandler’s NSFW stand-up routine, more of an emphasis on Eric Bana’s character, Ira’s hilarious video game rant, a better look at Aubrey Plaza’s role in the story, and even a quick look at some of the film’s many cameos. But overall the trailer feels more PG-13 than R-rated. Watch the trailer embedded after the jump, and as always, leave your thought sin the comments below.

Over the past few years, writer/director Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up) has shown that nothing—not even losing your virginity or the miracle of childbirth—is sacred. About his third film behind the camera, he says, “I’m trying to make a very serious movie that is twice as funny as my other movies. Wish me luck!” Apatow directs Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen and Leslie Mann in Funny People, the story of a famous comedian who has a near-death experience. Adam Sandler, Eric Bana, Jason Schwartzman, RZA and newcomers Aubrey Plaza and Aziz Ansari join a cast that reunites Judd Apatow with Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann and Jonah Hill in their third comedy together.

Watch the trailer in high definition on MySpace. Funny People hits theaters on July 31st 2009.

Any movie Judd Apatow involved in is worth watching no questions asked.

"When my grandfather was on his deathbed, we knew he had died when a candle flickered. We knew then that it was his spirit passing on to Heaven." "DUDE! I don't think you pass through fire when you go to Heaven. Your grandfather must have gone to Hell!"...

That line right there made me want to go see this. When does it come out? BTW, that line was from the original Theatrical trailer. I think I saw it when I saw "I Love You, Man." I wasn't a big fan of 40 Year Old Virgin, so I didn't see Knocked Up. Didn't he do Superbad, as well? I also disliked Superbad.... I'll see if I can find somebody to go see Funny People with, but I probably won't get that lucky. I'm having a terrible time finding somebody that hasn't already seen The Hangover but wants to see it....

I wasn't a fan of the 40 yr old virgin but did enjoy Pineapple Express and Knocked up and the trailer for this one looks pretty good so I hope it does well and they are able to continue with the funny adult comedies that we have been enjoying over the last few years.

I'm a huge fan of Apatow and Funny People looks good but that first trailer while funny was kind of a bummer considering they showed so much of the movie's plot.

This Red-Band one though makes me want to see this so bad, I mean Sander + Rogen + Apatow = Comedic gold

This trailer was attached to Bruno. I thought that red band trailers couldn't be shown in cinemas.

I thought that Bruno couldn't be shown in cinemas, but I've been proven WRONG. Such a sad day to see what this world has come to...

Yeah, I think they stopped for a while, but they're back again. I think the reason they disappeared for a bit was because some places were showing them during PG-13 movies, so the studios put a temporary ban on them.

The rule is still that they're only shown during R movies, but a local theater was recently in the news for showing one during a PG movie, and after the news contacted the MPAA about it, they want to have a little chat with the local theater about how that happened.

Just to confirm: a red band trailer is one that is "not approved for all audiences" or specifically rated R, right?

Really liked 40 Year Old Virgin, didn't care for Knocked Up at all, so not sure what to expect with this one. Looks decent though.

I've seen red-band trailers pop up with R-rated movies since American Pie 2 (saw a trailer with nudity for Not Another Teen Movie).

This one looks funny though, I hope Sandler's good in it.

Since the movie opens today, I added a PUBLIC poll. Please only vote if you've seen the movie. This is a good way to see which members you side with on movie likes/dislikes. It also gives you an idea of how good the movie is if you're on the fence about seeing it.

Just got back from the movie, and I loved it. By far Apatow's best movie. But it seems I was the only one who liked it. My friends, and most of the other people in there were complaining that it wasn't that funny. I think they're idiots, but it isn't entirely their fault. I think marketing this movie as a straight up comedy is going to hurt them because of word of mouth. People are going in expecting your typical Sandler/Rogen movie, i.e. Zack and Miri, when it isn't. It's a drama with comedy mixed in.

Shame really that word of mouth will kill this, but people are idiots.
