Default Could this be the ultimate Pre/Pro?

After a 10 year departure from making separates, Denon is back in the game with the soon to be released AVP-A1HD Pre/Pro and POA-A1HD THX Ultra 2 certified 10 channel amplifier. Prices have not been announced yet, but are expected to be $7,000-$8,000 for the Pre/pro and $7,000-$8,000 for the amplifier. Here's just some of what this amazing new processor will have:

THX Ultra 2
6 HDMI 1.3 in, 2 out - xxyycc color support and auto lip synch support
Full Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD support
Denon Link 3
Silicon Optix Realta HQV video processing
Audyssey Room Correction
9 Balanced Outputs (7.1 + 2 additional subs - interchangeable for zone 2 I expect)
Stereo Balanced Input
2 XLR Digital Inputs
4 Coax and 4 Optical Inputs
4 Optical outputs for other zones
Wireless and RJ45 audio streaming
4 Trigger Outputs
2 RS232 connections
Denon Control Link
Ipod Dock Support
Analog to HDMI Conversion and upscaling to 1080p
FLAC/WMA lossless
Windows Media PlaysForSure
HD Radio/XM/AM/FM (independent/simultaneous multi-zone capable)
Multi Channel Zone 2 Output for dual surround zones
Zone 4 Digital Audio
Simply HD Certified silicon image approves connectivity and operability
Remote maintenance program

Specs sound great, hopefully they redesign the exterior though, it looks cheap and tacky.

Nice, but I think something from Krell would be a better match for your Martin Logan electrostatics.

I don't know about you kids, but seeing that pre-pro makes my mouth water for Ayre Acoustics' first ever pre-pro surround processor. It's STILL on the drawing boards, and it's not even close to production yet. But boy O boy, seeing stuff like this kicks up the anticipation a notch or two.
The Denon looks cool, but GO AYRE!!!

That's awesome but six HDMI connections is overkill and so are many of the other features on that bohemoth. Where's a more reasonable preamp--maybe in the $2000 range? Still good to see Denon back into separates.

Actually I've tried out Krell and I didn't care for the way it sounded with my Logans. It was a bit too edgy. While some may like a brighter sound, I however don't. Another pre/pro that I had was an Integra Research RDC-7, and that also wasn't a good match.

My current Sunfire TGIII for the most part sounds excellent and is a very good match for my Martin Logans, but the Sunfire is starting to become a bit dated. Hence the need for a new pre/pro

Somewhat OT, I use ML's in a dedicated stereo setup and chose a tube D/A for my CD transport just to mellow out the sound a bit. When I purchased the ML's 18 years ago(!), I was warned off of Krell for the very reason you mention.

The design of this looks really cool. The balanced speaker outputs is outrageous and certainly designed for a semipro/pro home theater setup.

Yes, Martin Logans really sound their best with warmer sounding electronics.

Here's some more pix to drool over.
