Default Commercials and excessive volumes...

So congress finally passed a law to restrict commercials from excessive volumes. Bout friggen time. Most of us watch movies/TV programs through our high powered systems. Its so damned annoying to have to scramble to find the remote to turn down the 150db being pumped through the sound system.

Awesome! It was getting annoying that even with features like Audyssey Dynamic Volume and Dolby Volume that they've cranked the commercials loud enough that there's still enough boost to notice a difference. I have Dynamic Volume set to the heaviest setting, and although it was effective at first when I got my pre-pro 6 mos ago, it seems commercials have gotten louder since then.

Does this effect internet ads as well. HULU can be awful for this, certain ads are like three times the volume of the program.

Good to hear. Gets rather annoying having your system be at a perfect level for the show you are watching, and then going half deaf when the commercials come around.

So you're finally saying the Bose commercials will be the same volume as the show I'm watching? It's about time. And all these years I've been thinking the government was useless.

Or adjusting the volume for the commercials... having it set perfectly and having to crank the dial on our audio setup just to hear the television program.

Heck, I've been muting the commercials for years now because of how loud they are. My wife hates it to. She's always like "what if that's a funny commercial?" I always reply, "It may have been funny, but you wouldn't have been able to hear it because you'd be deaf if I didn't mute it."

What are these "commercials" everyone is speaking of?

I hardly ever watch live TV any more other than sports and as soon as I "sense" a commercial coming I hit mute. I am glad that this congress is finally tackling an issue of merit though.

Tackling the tough issues of the 21st century. Excessive TV commercial volumes. Our tax dollars at work. Forget about the fact that most newer TV's now come with audio volume leveling. Not to mention the ever so looked over mute button. Good job congress.

You're looking at this the wrong way.

I'd just assume they spend all of their time working on bills like this. At least this won't cost the US taxpayers billions/trillions of $$ for little to no benefit for the average citizen.
