Gangs of New York US vs French Version... (transfer) - Blu-ray Forum

So we don't have a review of the film on this site so I checked HDD... they said that while neither transfer is the best that the french is much better than the American... anyone else experience this?

No high quality version of this movie exists anywhere.

The French version is a little bit better, but is still less than satisfying.
The basic issue is that Disney apparently used the same tired old master that was used for the last dvd.
simple as that.
they never should have used that master;
they obviously should have created a new one.
The french company received the same elements, but produced a better disc.
so there is a slight variance.
the French release doesn't have as much dnr on it.
I have the French version, and am happy I got it.
