Default Why oh Why?

does my new 1080p 60xbr2 look like poop compared to my previous 42" 1080i sony (e42a10)? is it the size? or am i on crack???

hdmi cable possibly? i sold my last one with the old tv (cost me $60 on amazon) and bought a new one ($29 generic wal-mart) does this matter at all? isnt hdmi a standard? does quality change with different cables? ive done the search on that but all i get is a flood of information. i just want one simple answer. thanks

Have you calibrated it yet? What exactly do you not like about the picture?

All HDMI cables deliver the basically the same picture quality. So it's not that. Unless you've been in the HT area for many years, you won't be able to tell the difference between the 100$ Monster and the 10$ Monoprice.

Probably not the cables, there is some difference but usually depends on lengths of the HDMI cables. I didn't know they made a 60xbr2....? I know theres a 40,46,52,70" sizes xbr2 and xbr3....

My 46" XBR3 looks outstanding and the best tv hands down that i've seen in person. I guess your problem is with the source or settings.

i might just have unreal expectations. source is same as what was going to my former 42 inch tv. a PS3 via HDMI. all updates in tact. outputting at 1080p playing blu-ray. i wanted to look out a window. but theres minor pixelation. again...im just hardcore picky and want absolute perfection. but im sure thats years ahead with newer technology...

oh and the tv signals are unwatchable. even hd channels are below what i expected. via coax cable. (not through a box)

i just calibrated the picture to my liking and its a bit better. but still lower than my expectations. i'm sure its not the tv. im just hard to please...

QUESTION: will tvs that are 120 hz/hdmi 1.3 improve tv viewing?

Cool

Going up 18" in screen size might be the problem. Your eyes have been trained on 42" so you'll easily spot imperfections on a much larger screen. Just my thought.

The 60 inch xbr2 is actually going to be the KDS-R60XBR2, which is a rear projection model, rather than a flat panel model like you have.

And as zombieking said, the original poster's problem most likely lies in the fact that he made a significant increase in screen size and most likely did not move further from the screen to compensate.

Original poster, how far from your tv are you sitting?
