Another surround speaker question

I made a thread a little while back asking about speaker placement b/c out couch is not in an optimal position. I currently have 2 Sony SSF-5000 towers behind the couch facing forward. I can't help but feel like the couch is blocking some of the sound and currently my only other speakers are some tiny Onkyo HTiB satellites.

Now my question is, would I be better off having the satellites in a better position but obviously they are lesser speakers or are the towers in a pretty bad position still better than the satellites?
