Default File Placement??

Hi,

I have an avi I wish to view on my PS3. I don't know which file to place it in on my PC so that I can view it. It seems to constantly not find it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated?

The only way to get it done is through a third party Media Server program. I use Nero MediaHome. What happens is that this piece of software on your computer will create an accessible database for your ps3 to access. And, since the PS3 cannot decode AVI, the software will effectively render the video/audio feed through the network as an MPEG-2 encoding. Thus, a realtime streaming conversion of the AVI file into a format recognized by the PS3 system.

I use an SD flash card. I bought mine at Micro Center for only $15, and it hold 2 GB!
Just make sure it is an mp4 file (the only format I could make work) and in a folder called "VIDEO".
A lot easier than setting up a media server thing.

Will try that route. Would it work if I just plug my external drive in? What format's can the pS3 read? Would I be able to play the vob files?
