Is this a good upgrade?

Currently I have a Yamaha yst-sw012, I want to upgrade it and i noticed newegg has a deal on there Polk Audio PSW10 subwoofer for only $95 and free shipping! Would this be a great upgrade? If not what would be a better sub in this price range? Or should i spend 100 more and get the PSW110

Oh and i also broke 200 blu rays today, I am at 201 with the rocky collection and Ice age

Is that yamaha from a HTIB? I'm not framilure with that model sub so it's hard to say. The PSW10 is a good little sub but far from topnotch, it just doesn't reach waaaay down low like most of the higher dollor subs do. (I have one and enjoy it very much for the less then $100 I got it for)

ya the yamaha is from a htib. its on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-YSTSW01...1877586&sr=8-1 so what would be a good sub for under $200

So is the Polk PSW10 > my current Yamaha

It probably would not be a huge upgrade. It would be more of a lateral move.

I would save until you can get the Elemental A2-300 or the HSU STF 1 or 2. These would be a HUGE upgrade and worth the wait.

Damn that sucks, I want a new sub under $200

You might get more output but not much in the way of extension with the Polk. Extension to the mid to low 20hz range is what you want. This really adds to the visceral effect of the movie. HSU may still have the STF 1 at 249. Whcih is a great deal.

I highly recommend the BIC V1020 or V1220.

I have the V1020 and it's an exceptional value.

ya i cant go wit the a2-300 its way to big i need somehting the same size or a lil bigger like my yamaha

So go with the acoustic audio one and it would be a huge upgrade to my yamaha? And would it go good with the rest of my polk audio set up?

Save longer for the better subs. eD A2-300 gets down to 18Hz.

whatever you do don't do the Polk. I purchased the PSW12 a while back to replace a 10 inch Harman Kardon sub there was not much of a difference at all. I made the decision to go with a HSU. It was a night and day difference. I say this to say the PSW 12 did seem like it was much of an upgrade to me at the time. Check out the other brands that are being suggested.
