The Official "God of War 1 & 2" Speed Run Thread

Okay, let's see how this goes. I'm going on my first speed run through God of War 1 right now. I've gotten just about all the trophies except for the Speed Run, the 200 hit combo, the challenges one and the platinum.

So I don't have to try to max anything, I'm just going to go through this as quick as possible.

Post your best speed run times through both the games.

I'll post my progress in this post as I progress through the Speed run.

GOD OF WAR 1: Speed Run

I'm at the part where I just see Ares for the first time, coming up those steps and my time is 32 minutes even.

1. If you can, post up a screenshot of your final time in the Olympus Room.

2. Any tips or tricks you know of where someone can perhaps shave some seconds/minutes off their time, post them up.

GROO'S GOD OF WAR 1 SPEED RUN PROGRESS.

1. 32:00 -- Athens Battleground 1
2. 43:43 -- Treasure Room in Athens
3. 1:05:15 - Athens Battleground 2 (getting ready to go through the desert w/the sirens)
4. 1:11:52 - Just got past the Sirens and am in that room right after beating them.
5. 1:23:59 - Challenge of Atlas, where I just got the Blade of Artemis (who did NOT blast her nips)
6. 1:59:37 - Poseidon's Chamber (just got the Trident). I'm making good time compared to my previous runthrough where I hit this spot at 3hrs 7 minutes. I'm an hour and 7 minutes ahead of schedule. And I finished THAT run @ about 5hrs 30 minutes I think.
7. 2:17:59 - The Hall of Hades.
8: 2:40:15 - The Blades Of Hades ( )
9: 2:48:20 - Just beat Minotaur! Whew! I got through those blades a lot quicker than normal.
10: 2:55:33 - Chamber of the Gods.
11: 3:30:53 - The Architect's Tomb. Damn I hate this part. I just got here and I always get stuck here for like a half hour. *sigh* well here goes....
12: 3:59:03 - just climbed out of Hades and going to fight Ares! WHOOOOOOOOOO!
13: 4:10:13 - FINISHED THE GAME!!!! WITH THE SPEED OF JASON F*****G MCDONALD!!!!

good work, what were the circumstances of the run? difficulty level, were you using a costume, etc? i think if were going to do this, we should probably have a set of conditions to meet

I did the speed run on the easiest setting, and no costumes.

I used the Dairy Bastard costume, and did it in under 3:15. Unlimited magic FTW.

Ahhh good for you. I was hoping for a GOW trilogy so I'm holding out on two platinums =(

the 200 hit combo is pretty easy, just find a (big) crowd of enemies and spam the poseidon (lightning) magic.
I did it with my magic at level one and I hit a 300+ combo

Yeah that's what I did. Although whoever said that you get unlimited magic with Rage of the Titans is a dirty stinkin' liar! lol At least I didn't get unlimited magic with it.

I played it twice already, I wasn't taking the chance of having to play it again while GOW2 was waiting for me.

That was me. Only I said Rage of the Gods meaning the first one and not the second one.


To hit the 200+ combo use Rage of the gods, army of Hades followed by Posidens rage. Do it while fighting all the other Kratos in phase two of the Ares fight.

Don't forget that your Blades of Chaos also need to be at level 5 before you get unlimited magic with Rage of the Gods.

got my platinum trophy for god of war 1 after finishing game in 3:4x with dairy costume my 2nd time playing.

For God of War 2 getting the 500 hit combo is so easy lol. right when you get chronos' rage and the enemies appear just start using the lightning orbs over and over and over and youll get the trophy easy. I got a 747 hit combo in this part lol.
