Default Can you hook a PS2 up to an HD Monitor via HDMI?

I didn't know where to put this, because "gaming" doesn't have a PS2 section.

I'm considering getting a PS2 so I can play some of the old games that will probably never come to the PS3, such as Madden '05, Soul Calibur III, Gran Turismo 2 and the Onimusha games among others.

But is there an adapter or something that I can get that I can plug the ps2 into an HD Monitor?

I realize I won't get HD Graphics, but I don't have a TV with the AV inputs or anything.

My monitor has two HDMI inputs though.

I didn't think such a thing existed, but I found this:

http://www.pacificcable.com/More_Pag...Converter.html

Are you running your set through an AV receiver? I have my Wii cables running in through the receiver and to the TV via HDMI.

Yeah you could get an A/V to HDMI converter but it would be cheaper to get an A/V to VGA converter (I'm assuming monitors still have VGA ports) assuming such a converter exists.

I'm pretty sure you HDTV can take a component cable. If you like, you can also use optical for sound. Monster makes a set of component cables for PS2/or PS3 and you can find them on ebay for cheap.

Your easiest best is to use a VGA console adapter. Pelican had a Pelican Universal VGA Box for PS2, XBox, GameCube. Theyre hard to find now so you could try ebay.

Default Hey it's your money

I'm not sure if money is a deciding factor, but personally I think you'd be better off using that money towards an HDTV and a backward compatible PS3. You're looking at spending $70+on a cable for 480i/480p vid playing-not worth it.

Well I'm DEFINITELY not spending 70 bucks on a freaking cable, unless it's gonna make me dinner and make me a man in the process.

I just want to be able to connect a PS2 to the monitor, whether via VGA or an HDMI.

The HDMI was just the first thought I had since there's two slots, and I have the PS3 already hooked up.

I suppose I could get a backwards compatible PS3 but I'm not paying the prices I've seen people selling them for.
