Default Paradigm will be sold at Best Buy.

I was told by a person who is at the top of the food chain for BB/NOLA. He recently attended the annual meeting in vegas at the Billagio, and was told they are currently in the middle of closing a deal with Paradigm and several other High end companies. Paradigm should be in the stores as early as January 2010. I figured I would pass this along.

the monitor line will be sold in the NOLAs attached to the Best Buys, and Signiture will be sold in the self standing NOLA's.

Anyone else hear anything about this?

I havent yet, but I will see what I can find out. I have some friends in their business. Not too surprising though. It seems as though BB is trying to acquire every brand possible so they don't lose any sales.

Please don't use the word NOLA. There is a speaker company called NOLA and that confuses a newbie like me.

So other than a speaker company, what is NOLA?

Magnolia, their "high end" version of Best Buy that has been integrated into some of their stores. http://www.magnoliaav.com/

I have never heard of it referred to as NOLA, always MAG, or MHT or MAV.

OK I'm familiar with the Magnolia stores, but I've never heard them called NOLA before. Thanks for clearing that up.

Thanks BD. I think I'll make it a point to avoid anything called NOLA.

As a former MHT employee. I will say Magnolia in no way is "high-end". Paradigm isn't "high-end". The only thing that remote comes close to being a product has value is the possible the Mozart Grands from Vienna Acoustics.

Paradigm isn't necessarily "high-end" but they do have value. I would saddened to see the brand of speaker be put in a place that would degrade them. Best Buy or Best Try as I like to call it would just prostitute Paradigm like they do with all audio gear.

Not sure I would call this low end.

http://www.magnoliaav.com/Products/P...4/Default.aspx

And I am not sure how a set of Paradigm Sigs would be considered lower end than the Motzart Grands....

Edit: I like the Spires as well....

Not high end service, but they do have some higher end products. Their AV stores which I worked in briefly do have high end products. Notice how I put "high end" in parenthesis. I have also heard that MHT will be carrying majority of AV product as well such as Krell and McIntosh. Don't know if it will happen, but that is the rumor.

Neither of those products are carried by MHT, they are carried by MAV. There is a difference. MHT is within Best Buy stores, MAV is a stand alone store with much more at their disposal.

I see. I don't think they carry the Monitor Audios in the Best Buy stores either....

No they dont. There is a lot of product such as Sonus Faber, REL above the T series, Martin Logan above the design series, Vienna above the Mozart, Krell, Primare, McIntosh, Marantz. I hear that MHT will be getting some of it soon though. We will see if Best Buy corporate goes back on their word as they usually do.

Not surprising, they just got onkyo, im sure local dealers wont be to happy with them snatching up all the brands.

Now lets wait for the people to come in and say they're selling their paradigm's now.

(Dont know if you guys remember the last thread about BB carrying onkyo and one guy said he's selling his speakers if they start carrying them)

I understand why some wouldn't want a commercial retailer like BB selling their favorite speaker, but come on.

Magnolia AV are the stand alone stores which were once a separate company founded by Len Tweten. MHT or Magnolia Home Theater which are inside Best Buy stores of what I would refer to as the one's who would prostitute the paradigms.

As for the the paradigm sigs being lower end to the Mozart Grands. The reference series' beryllium dome tweeter is extremely bright and fatiguing to my ear that I cannot even handle listening to them. However, that is subjective but if my choice was between strictly those to speakers, I would pick the VA's.

Very subjective, I found the Sigs very refreshing and transparent. Smooth would be my word if I had to pick one. I liked them a lot, but seemed a bit high in price for what they are. I am not the biggest fan of the Monitor or Studio line for the reasons you have listed, but even they have their place.....and I don't think it is to be compared to the rest of the BB offerings.
