Default The better 1972 album?

Again, I realize that there were other great albums released this year, but I think these two rank among the all-time great rock records...

Five Years
Soul Love
Moonage Daydream
Starman
It Ain't Easy
Lady Stardust
Star
Hang On to Yourself
Ziggy Stardust
Suffragette City
Rock 'n Roll Suicide

vs.

Rocks Off
Rip This Joint
Shake Your Hips
Casino Boogie
Tumbling Dice
Sweet Virginia
Torn and Frayed
Sweet Black Angel
Loving Cup
Happy
Turd on the Run
Ventilator Blues
I Just Want to See His Face
Let It Loose
All Down the Line
Stop Breaking Down
Shine a Light
Soul Survivor

Even though there are a few albums that I prefer over those 2 for 1972 (Purple's Machine Head, Thick As a Brick) I think that Bowie's album stands above for musical direction, novelty and all around excellence. I am not a huge Bowie fan but he was a precursor in so many ways. Bowie didn't adapt to the times, he formed it.

Toss up for me. I chose the Stones over Bowie, but it really came down to which would I choose if I could only have one to listen to over and over. Both are great in their own right, just my choice of replayability.

I gotta say, musically, I think Exile on Main St. is the greatest rock & roll album ever...
Nothing else compares to it for a duration of 70 minutes (London Calling comes close)
