All advertising is themed.
So, by your logic, I should obviously expect the remake of Halloween to be released on Blu-ray on 10/2, seeing that the original is being released then.

Care to share any other release dates that weren't so obvious to the rest of us?

Nope, because it's a completely different company (Anchor Bay vs Weinsteins), and the movie is coming out far too late in the summer to move to video that fast.

Plus I know for a fact they haven't even accepted a bid on the DVD authoring, let alone the High-def yet,and since it's Weinstein, it would be HD DVD only (for now anyway), and since they seem to have halted all HD production for the moment wouldn't hit anyway.

However we're talking what will be at that point a 4 month old movie (right in the typical release window) combined with multiple other releases from the same studio, all owned by the same company. Look at it this way- You can buy 1 commercial and advertise _3_ products instead of just one!

You will notice however that there are a pile of related films coming out with other things. Look at the Best Buy ad from last week. Every Thermopolai film every made was re-promoted or released the same day as 300.

And if Zombie's Halloween didn't come out so late in the summer, they would have moved it to match. In this case it's simply part of AB's big initial Blu push

I guess I should have conveyed the sarcasm in my question, seeing as it's obvious that a movie released in theaters mid August wouldn't be released on Blu ray by October. How about the release dates for the rest of the Summer films? Looking forward to hearing when they'll be released on Blu.

Pretty much every major summer title will be out before Christmas. Typically the really big blockbusters you want out first/second week of November because Christmas shopping starts then, and so you can do a black friday push.

Transformers will probably hit late November, Die Hard 4 I'm going to call for mid-Dec.

Mind you, Die Hard is not guaranteed for Blu just yet, but a mountain of Fox is probably right around the corner with that taking lead position.

While I appreciate what you had to offer, it's pretty much a given that all of the summer blockbusters would be out before Christmas. That much I could figure out on my own. I was just hoping that since you seem to do your homework and can size up the advertising strategies so well that you could give me specific dates. Thanks anyway.

All the homework in the world will not let you figure out the specific date they'll announce something for, only a block of time. Since none of the other big summer titles have announced companion pieces with dates, it's very difficult to nail those down

Then why wouldn't Meet the Robinsons come out the same week as Cars and Ratatoulle?

Completely different creative teams (though Lassetter did do some major work on it the last 6 months).

They're completely seperate entitities within a whole, and a completely different name recognition factor.

You might ship some new Nicholas Cage special editions the same week as National Treasure 2,but in all honesty you're saying let's advertise Bill and Ted with a Woody Allen box set. Why? Because they're both comedies owned by MGM.

The MGM analogy was a bit of a stretch, not to mention saying that there were completely different creative teams, only to follow that with mentioning Lasseter's involvement. Seeing as you're the resident advertising guru of the board, you don't think it would make more sense for Meet the Robinsons to be released the same week as Cars?

I agree. I think it was the media event for the release of the two POTC in May when Bob Capek said Cars would be the only Pixar release this year
Well, we already know that's wrong since there's the shorts disc coming. He probably meant catalog titles.

No, because you're already asking people to buy 3 major titles in the same week, and it's not related

Lassetter is involved as the head of Walt Disney Feature Animation, not as a creative staffer. He wrote and directed Cars. He worked on Ratatouille a heck of a lot. The bottom line is that all 3 of those titles are Pixar films.

Actually the bottom line is they are all Pixar films under the Disney umbrella, and Meet the Robinsons is a Disney film with Pixar involvement.

No it's not

John Lassetter is the head of Walt Disney Feature Animation now

Do you see Pixar here?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0396555/companycredits

John Lassetter runs the whole umbrella, and WD Feature animation is going back to 2D animation on his watch. Pixar is the only company that's going to be doing 3D under the Disney umbrella

Yes it is.

You can split hairs by showing me the IMDB company credits, and I can split them right back with http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=sr070330as and I don't know how many other sites that say Pixar had a hand (however small) in Meet the Robinsons.

They don't say Pixar had a hand in it at all

Quote:
Eight people with a fair amount of input on the story is a lot. Add to that John Lasseter, who with the Disney Pixar merger, came on board Meet the Robinsons as its executive producer—and made suggestions for changes. He related at a recent investor's conference how he first saw the movie (about 80 percent) done and gave director Anderson some very strong notes about the story.
He became head of all Disney animation with the merger, and as the supervising head of all of it, he gave notes on the film. He did so as the head of WD Feature animation, NOT as an employee of Pixar.

Quote:
Chicken Little (review), Feature Animation's first foray into all-computer animation, indicated a move towards the all-irony and pop references of Shrek and away from the sincerity and earnestness of the Pixar titles.
Strictly a comparison

Quote:
As much as I enjoy the traditions developing with the Pixar movies, it was nice to not be waiting for John Ratzenberger to make a vocal appearance.
Once again, a comparison

That is every mention of the word "pixar" in the article. Care to try again?

Not that I feel any need to "try again", but since you asked so politely...
