Need to take some pictures and then update this thing. Equipment is listed in my signature, still awaiting arrival of the Yammy processor and amp, supposedly end of this month according to the Japanese store I purchased them from, they are replacing a Yammy 3070 and Emotiva XPA-2 (that I never even opened) that I just sold to a couple different individuals stateside.
The room is approximately 14' wide by 11.5~12' deep (need to measure later to put actual dimensions) and DARK! Just recently built a house here in Japan and purposely had this room made without windows and without any built-in lighting, just using Hue strips with 1 extension, 1 on each side of the room up above in built-in shelves, 2 Play bars mounted to the back of the TV for ambient lighting and 2 floor lamps with 2 HUE bulbs in each and had the 4 sub cables and all the speaker cabling ran in the walls and roof. Just outside the room is a room as deep, but only about 6' wide that is the entry point as well as the media room to house my movies. Still need to build a shelving unit, just for the time being, using an older tv stand that I recently replaced to have the UHDs on display. All my BDs are still boxed up and all my DVDs are still at my old place and most likely will just be thrown out. Even with processing, I just hate how bad DVDs look compared to UHD and BD. Seating is nothing special, using 4 Polli Molli beanbags mated with a footstool also by Polli Molli. For me, they are more than comfortable and very easy to move around if I so choose. Equipment will be/is housed using a Sanus Euro EFA31 and Sanus Euro EFAVB, instead of 2 separate pieces, I combined the 2 into 1 unit. Essentially have the 2 bases on the sides, 1 will house the processor and the other the amp with an AC Infinity T10 on top of each. Between the 2 bases reside the 3 shelves that came with the stand. To do this, I just went to a local hardware store and picked up some 1/4"-20 threaded rod and threaded into the insides of the bases, set 1 shelf onto the 2 base shelves as the support and built up the remaining 2 shelves. Lowest shelf houses the Oppo UDP-203, middle shelf houses my Harmony hub, Apple TV4K and Sony 4K Satellite receiver and upon the upper shelf rests the Klipsch RP-504C. Just above the center channel, the LG OLED77C8 is mounted to the wall with a Sanus Low Profile Tilt wall mount. The rest of the speakers are pairs of Klipsch RP-250F (again was limited by shipping) up front, at side surround and back surround positions, SVS Prime Elevations mounted to the ceiling for front and rear ATMOS/DTS-X and low-end is nothing spectacular, but with no company willing to ship due to size/weight, plus wallet only so big and what equipment costs here in Japan, I went with 4 Klipsch R110SW, 1 in each corner of the room and under each is an Auralex SubDude-HT isolation platform. I'm still pleased with their output as it is quite clean and I'm still able to feel them, granted they don't go ultra-low, but they work in my environment and all that really matters is that I'm happy with my room. I attempted to order and successfully placed an order for 2 Klipsch RP-8000F to replace 2 of the 250F up front, but the company came back and said the size was the restriction as they are just under the 70lbs maximum for USPS, so they refunded my $1200. Sucks, because to order them here, it would come out to about $2200 versus the $1200, still might do it in the near future, depends if I let my fingers dig into my wallet or not, just my wallet is not so deep as already stated above. ![]() On the side walls I mounted some Auralex Studiofoam Wedgies as well as some more on the ceiling above. On the rear wall, I hung some blackout curtains (why though, there are no windows) for some sound absorption. Apologies for no images yet, will get some shortly to update this thread. I know most people these days prefer images to words, because words take attention to get through. ![]() Last edited by 555SD; 05-06-2019 at 05:09 AM. |

The new Yamaha MX and CX A5200s showed up today, well yesterday now as it is already Monday morning here, need to sleep, but was setting them up, updated the firmware on the CX, cleaned up the wiring nest behind the rack and then watched F1 earlier.
Still need to run YPAO later today after work. No real impressions as I haven't really used them yet. |

![]() For me, the stand is perfect and I'm glad I chose the 2 SANUS pieces and turned them into 1. Maximum airflow around the amp plus the AirCom fan on top of it, it's symmetrical and just looks so damn good to my eyes, well don't really see it anyways when watching a movie or whatever else is on. Function always is a priority for myself in all aspects of life, though the fact that the form also fits me, is what makes it perfect for myself. |
