Default my sony LCD has a problem...

I've had my sony KDF-55XS955 55" LCD for almost 3 years now...and just tonight i noticed a slight...barely noticeable area that appears more blue than it should...almost like its losing the ability to produce red in that area...and its a slim straight line about 4in long....anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this...and is it only going to get worse? im looking to get a new tv anyway but i plan on keeping this one so i'd really like to fix it...thanks in advance

Most likely it's a group of pixels going out. I don't think there's really anything you can do if that's the case.

Do you see it on all input sources? If, so try powering everything off and unplug everything...cable and all - are you using a cable box?

just thought i would throw this out to help anyone who might have the same issue i did.....this line pattern is a defect in some sony tvs made between 2003-2005 and no matter what your warranty status is, sony will cover the repair cost - here is a link to the page-

final update on this one....part came in from sony and was installed by an authorized technician this morning...a new light engine and a new lamp...this tv is 3 years old but brand new....and it didnt cost me a penny!....the tech wanted to make sure everything was fine picture wise so i threw in the POTC-DMC BD....and i could see his eyes spinning...little do his kids know they are about to get a ps3....that brings my grand total of getting people to buy a ps3 to 8....

From my experience in the service business it looks like it's time to replace your light engine my friend. That could be costly, and if you don't have a warranty, that could mean the end of your tv. That repair is about $1500.

No I'm not. He actually has a Sony LCD projo tv. Not simply an LCD tv. Look at his first post and then you'll know.

It's not an LCD tv. What you have is an LCD projection tv. The only Sony televisions that have optical blocks (aka light engines) are their LCD projection tv's.

Well you and WickyWoo suggested that some of us are confused about what kind of television you have. I just responded to that, so yeah "no shit".
