Default Anybody got sex and the city the movie

I just got a copy of sex and the city (for the wifey) from eBay. It was advertised as new. When I opened the package the blu ray case was shrink wrapped, but not thin plastic like store brought. It was some thick plastic (1st red flag) the front cover artwork looked legit but the back looked non authentic flag # 2. the top of case had label securing case closed but the side had no seal. And for some reason the label on the disc looked like a porno DVD label (it was blurry looking and small lettering was hard to read). I popped it in the ps3 and there were no previews just new line high definition logo come up twice and the movie just starts. I am wondering if this is a fake blu ray? I put it in my laptop and it will not play so I'm scratching my head on this one. Anybody have this movie and can compare it to the way I described it or better yet any way to find out if this is a fake.

Sounds like a blu-ray rip to me...but that's just me, I don't know that movie at all.

It might not be new, but I wouldn't think its a blu-ray rip.

Since your playing on a ps3, press select. Check to see if the mb are high (like most blu-rays, in the 15-30 range). Also see if there's a pop-up menu.

If that's the case I would just guess its a bad case, but the disc is probably fine. (i.e. a real blu-ray)

Pop up menus work?

The film doesn't have any trailers prior to starting, nor does it have a menu other than a popup menu, so at least that is accurate.

Could you post pictures by any chance?

Thanks.

I would say it's a fake... Can you post pictures of the case/disc and also a link to the ebay auction so we know not to buy from that person...

I too have a copy of this movie on Blu ray which I think is fake.

It is a UK release (region B) and it is region locked to region B. I bought it off eBay for around US$15. It was listed as new, but not sealed & 100% genuine, no copies. The seller had about 10 copies of it. He also is a power seller with 100% feedback store, so I figured he was quite reputable.

I have played the movie, it comes complete with special features and menu etc. The content on the disc is about 35 gb from memory. The picture is perfectly clear, typical blu ray 1080 p res etc. THE REASON I THINK IT FAKE IS because the disc art work is partly pixelated. The artwork is the same as the extended cut artwork from all regions with the UK classification stamp but the actual pictures of the cast on the disc (back and front) are quite pixelated. Sort of like a small res file has been blown up. The text and the graphics on the artwork sleeve are perfect though, which doesn't make sense. The artwork on the disc has the same problem. Also, the disc sleeve hasn't got that round cut like any of my other blu ray sleeves and the case is thicker than the slim line region A ones. (Not sure if it's because it's from the UK)
The disc appears to be genuine in every other aspect though. The back of the disc looks like any other blu ray I own with the little numbers around the center and so. I am also guessing if it was a pirated copy it would be on a different sort of disc and it wouldn't be region locked.

If anyone could help me out, let me know what they think, that would be great If anyone is interested in photos, I will provide very soon.

Sorry about the ramble, I am very tired.

35 GB would mean it is a BD-50. It would be very unlikely that this was a pirated disc (since these are usually DVD's disguised as BD's. It is possible that these were discs somehow stolen from the assembly line, but it doesn't appear likely that these are "typical" rips.

I had this on BD,sold it. It was a double disc set. Disc 1 was the extended cut running 157 minutes and Disc 2 was a digital copy with extras on it like a interview with Sarah Jessica Parker and few other interviews and such, oh also a Fergie music video

Quick question can you get the HD audio sources on a ripped BD?
If it's the case that you can't get HD on a rip, pull up the audio display and see what your getting.

Mine was the UK release, 1 disc only as the special features were included on disc one. Might just sell it and buy the US release of it.
