Default Energy esw-8hg. $79.99. Should I buy!!

Found this sub at a local store. Brand new. I ultimately want an stf-2, but as a temporary fix for 79.99 I think this energy sub is a steal. What u guys think?

Are you talking about the ESW-8 or ESW-C8? Never heard of the hg.

as much as quality components we can find for a certain amount of money or a steal, i guess ive always considered that money you are trying to spend on such subsitute, can be put towards that component you always dream off.

i dont want you to just end up 'settling on something just to get by'....

just a thought friend.

Esw-8. And I agree with putting that money aside to get the stf-2. Nonetheless it is a good deal... for someone. Thanks for the advice.

I have to agree with this statement too....

OK back to my OP, the ESW-C8 is a P.O.S. sub, and I am a huge Energy fan. And there are better for that price, RW-8 from Acoustic Audio for $99 for instance. The EWS-8 sub however would be worth $79-$139, although it doesn't get extremely low, Energys ESW subs are basically like the Polk PSW subs, perhaps just a little better overall, but once you get up to the S series subs and the ESW-V series subs(although discontinued now), they are very good subs, unfortunately they price them too high for what they are. If the S10.3 was closer to $350-400 instead of $530, it would be a better value. And If the ESW-V10 was perhaps $500-550 instead of the $800 price tag, it would be a great sub too.

Now while the STF-2 you are interested in is a good sub, perhaps you would be getting more if you bought the eD A2-300, the eD would dig deeper for HT use and should be about as good for music. They are the same price.

After doing some extensive research and reading tons of reviews I have decided to go with the A2-300 (already placed the order). What sold me on this sub was that specs are a little better, It is more of a HT sub (although it holds its own with music... per reviews I read) and it was $30 cheaper.

Once again, thanks to all for the great help and suggestions. Im sure I will not be disapointed with my decision.
