Default will this non needed upgrade benefit me???

Hello All, i am new to the forum but not new to ht and the love for movies. im having a problem deciding what to do. i just finished my theater room that is 100% for movies. during the building process i came across a great deal on a projector and decided i had to have it! so sure enough it is hanging from my ceiling now. i am not disapointed in any way, the picture looks great. it is a Marantz VP-12s3. this projector does not have hdmi so i have to use an adapter to dvi, and it is only 720. my question is, even though the picture looks good, will i benefit from spending 2000 on a new projector? will there be an incredible difference from what i have now? i dont really know too much about this, the Marantz is only 700 lumens where as the projectors i can pick up for 2k begin at 1600 lumens...my reason for deciding this is because for about 3 weeks now since the room has been done i have watched more movies then i ever though i would. Every night my 3 year old son, my 3 month old son and wife go down and have movie night, after the movie we put them to bed, AND right back down for a double feature!!(thats when i get to crank it!) Cause of this it really wouldnt kill me to drop another 2k if it is gonna be much better...im in the process now of explaining to my wife how much better The Wizard Of Oz would look.

The Upgade in lumens will probably give you a better picture.

Go to the community website up at the top and look at galleries top rated and ask some one named Brian Stugeon that question or ask some one named Bigdaddy.

A lot has changed in Projector technology in the last 10 years. The most important improvemnt has been in contrast ratios and black levels. For $2,000, Epson is a good choice. It is one of the largest projector manufacturers in the world and offers more bang for your money. I highly recommend their newest Epson 8500 projector. Panasonic, Sony, Mitsubishi, Sanyo and a few others also offer good choices. I am in my fifth generation of projectors and probably change my current projector in one more year. The following sites provide the most reliable information on projectors.

A good and reliable source to buy projectors.

thanks for the info Big Daddy. i wold have went with an Epson or Panosonic anyway. im gonna look into the 8500 now, and sure i'll have it up within 2 weeks. im not one to sit and wait on something, when i want something i jump.(hence the Marantz im replacing now) i just wanted to be sure of one thing, the picture i will get with a new one will be noticeably better then what i have now, right??? my other concern is, will the Epson 8500 project an image of 16:9 on my 100" screen from the same location that my Marantz projector is at now? i spent wayyyyyy too much time and money already pulling the electric and cables out where they are now, and am not about to start cutting into my completely finished ceiling to move the location of everything...

The picture will be significantly better, particularly the resolution, the contrast, and the inky blacks.
