Default First Time Setup Part 1

Hey, absolute newbie to home theater. Had about a 700 dollar budget, so went with a solid receiver thats upgradable. So far I only have my fronts and subwoofer done. Will add in two surrounds later this month for part 2.

I apologize for the low quality photos from my iPhone. Will take new photos once camera is done charging tomorrow.

Specs:

55'' Sony Bravia
Onkyo 507 Receiver
(2) Jamo E660
(1) Jamo E7Cen
(1) PA-120 Subwoofer
(1) PS3
A Few Blu-Rays.

Thinking of adding some height adjusted bookshelf speakers for my two surrounds a few weeks from now because I don't have shelves by my couches.

Not bad for 700 bucks. It sounds great, can't wait to keep upgrading!

I must say that those are some solid speakers and components you purchased.
Will most certainly give you a very good start to get your HT up and running.

Though I will say I also dont see any pics.
Just empty boxes with a red X in them.

A little to the front right of where I sit (on the couches), behind the couch.

There's three couches, one on left, one on right, and one at back near wall. It's behind the one on the right.

Looks great, I went the same route as you with an inexpensive upgradeable receiver.

Have you ever played with placement? It seems a little tucked in tight next to the wall in that location. You are off to a good start for a "newbie" by the way.

Hmmm, any reccomendations then? Should I move the couches more inward so I can place the sub farther from the wall? I don't really want the sub visible, which is why i hit it in that corner.

Well, I think you should at least try a couple of different places just to make sure you are getting the best bass response that you can get. It very well may already be in the best place, but doing something like the sub-crawl could help you to locate the best place for the sub.

Here is a sticky from Big Daddy about what the subwoofer crawl is and a video link as well. The paragraph about the subwoofer crawl is about 1/2 down the 1st post. https://forum.blu-ray.com/subwoofers...oom-modes.html
