I was gonna say the same thing. Thats why I didnt even bother with First Class in my poll. I figured the only real matchup with The Avengers would be between TDK or TDKR. First Class is very good but just not on the level of The Avengers. Got Em!!

I really like X-Men First Class, but watching The Avengers is way more fun IMO.

Avengers just on pure entertainment value alone.

Avengers isn't a perfect as the fanboys (and I'm one of them) think but I didn't think First class was anywhere near as good as everyone was saying last year.

Both great movies.

Voted XMEN First Class though. It felt like it had more depth to it. Yeah the Avengers was an action packed amazing movie, but it needed more development of itself. (I would assume that all the individual movies are supposed to be the development)

I loved them both, I voted X-Men because it totally surprised me and this really elevated it's enjoyment factor. Top X-men movie. Avengers is brilliant, probably got everything I expected which is great..X-men gave me a lil more punch.

I enjoyed X-Men:FC, but it was a problematic film at best.

All the Magneto Nazi hunting stuff was awesome, but several of the 1st class were pretty mediocre plus with all of the stealing characters from throughout the comic timelines, we were left with a number of fairly bottom of the barrel characters in this one.

Also, January Jones was fairly wooden.

Avengers, despite being characters I generally like less than Spidey & X-Men, was really great comic book movie.

Default X-Men: First Class

I personally think that X-Men: First Class is better. I'm sorry, but that movie made a great attempt at focusing on each character. The Avengers doesn't have much character development, and Loki is an uninteresting villain.

I see a few people saying the latter is as good or almost as good as The Dark Knight. Let me just say something, TDK is a whole different league, neither XM nor Avengers compare to Christopher Nolan's chilling masterpiece with one of the best modern performances ever by Heath Ledger.

1. The Dark Knight (10/10)
2. X-Men: First Class (8/10)
3. The Avengers (7/10)

That said, some of the action in Avengers was amazing.

First class villain was awful. Horrendously overpowered.

Beast looked like a werewolf.

Still though a solid movie, but nowhere near as good as Joss Whedon's masterpiece, The Avengers.

Avengers had plenty of character development. They were called Iron Man, Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger.

The point of these movies was to develop the characters so you could go right into the story in Avengers without too much character development.

I'm sorry, but this is part of the problem with 1st class, too many underdeveloped characters who you really don't care about.

Don't get me wrong 1st class is a decent movie. I enjoyed it, but if I had to choose between them Avengers wins easily.

I also disagree with you about Loki, but can understand your feelings about Dark Knight. To me they are just different styles of movies and I enjoy both.

I was actually disappointed with FIRST CLASS after all the hype and good reviews...

AVENGERS was lots of fun and far more entertaining...

(thought DARK KNIGHT RISES was best of all however... just saying...)

I disagree on all counts. Like someone had said the character development was done in about 5 films to set up the Avengers. If u watched the Avengers without watching the other 5 films then that on u. Also The Avengers is a better film than TDK. The Joker was the highlight of TDK. Bale was annoying at times with his voice change from BB. I mean it was a good film no doubt but The Avengers is the ultimate comic book film. Also besides the Joker, to me Loki is easily the 2nd best villain period and very interesting in my book. Got Em!!

Avengers was best in my book. First class was a movie that trifled with actors too young or too old and Kevin Bacon was a terrible fit as Shaw.
