Burger Time HD Coming to the PSN - Blu-ray Forum

The updated version of Data East's classic burger-stacking platformer is being developed by Frozen Codebase, and it's coming to XBLA, PSN, PC and WiiWare "early this summer," according to MonkeyPaw president John Greiner. A peck of Peter Peppers will be able to play together, since the game now includes four-player online multiplayer, along with split-screen local multiplayer. Leaderboards, DLC and chat will help add a modern flavor to this culinary concoction.

We'll let MonkeyPaw describe the updated gameplay, since we don't know if we'd ever be able to generate a sentence this wonderful on our own: "A unique cylindrical playing field reinvigorates the familiar classic gameplay of creating enormous hamburgers while fending off wieners, condiments and spices." The enlarged 3D landscapes offer "numerous paths of burger creation."

Nice. I wouldn't mind seeing the classic version also being released on the PSN or somehow included with the HD version. I loved Burger Time back when I had my Colecovision!

Whenever I fill nostalgic and I switch on MAME, Burger Time is the first game I go for, then Bomb Jack, then... Hours later.

That actually looks... good.

Too many remakes and re-imaginings try too hard, but this seems to bring some great ideas to clean up what used to be pretty unforgiving game rules and bring them into the modern age.

It does look pretty good, I'll definitely consider picking it up...whenever it comes out.

I borrowed this for my old 2600 a lifetime ago. I had spent the whole evening playing it. I'd get this.

My mom and I used to love playing this at the bowling alley when I was a kid. Too bad the re-make adds a bunch of stuff that would make it too difficult for my mom to enjoy with me.

I thought it was clever. This is similar to what Super Stardust HD does to the original gameplay of Asteroids.

EDIT: My 25 year old memories fail me, apparently the original arcade edition of Burger Time didn't have side-warping. But honestly I think it's a good gameplay addition.

Review of the Xbox 360 version (it came out Nov 2). Judging by the review, the game has a lot of the content, but the gameplay is confusing and the controls are poor.

Wait, the 360 version has been out for two weeks? Not that I would have bought it then, but why did PSN not get it then? Is this that hypocritical MS policy coming into play?

And yeah, I'm a bit skeptic on the game. I doubt there's a demo, so I'll probably hold off on it for now.

Reason doesn't even make sense. Microsoft probably gave them some incentive in exchange for releasing it early on the Xbox 360.

Just read the review: rather disappointing. Even if the controls are tightened up for the PS3 platform, there's still the matter of level design and navigation. Guess I'll need to find somethng else for my nostalgia fix.
