This year is the 50th anniversary, so there must be a good chance of a Blu-ray release.

it was available in HD-DVD so there is an existing High Def master. The HD-DVD transfer was not really stellar but still an upgrade to DVD releases. I would really like an Ultimate Collectros Edition type of boxset(like wizard of oz) with new transfer with and with new audio.

Let's hope when they put it out on Blu, they use the Criterion transfer and not that godawful Universal one from the DVD.

how does the criterion transfer look? Even though its not blue ray is it worth getting and does it look good upscaled?
