Default Movies that aren't released on blu ray due to copyright/other legal issues?

Do you know of such examples?

Looking for Mr. Goodbar, which hasn't seen the light of day even on DVD - due to music license issues, I think.

Panic Room!

Should have been released by Sony but its Twilight dealing with the licensing and we don't know what the hell is going on.

There was a time when Fright Night 2's rights holders were literally unknown. I'm not even sure we got an answer.

Wait, is there a reason why TT hasn't released it yet?

EDIT: For some reason I can't access the Panic Room thread, odd.
EDIT 2: Reason explained.

Cruising by William Friedkin
Year of the Dragon by Michael Cimino

Two very polarizing films that were considered anti-gay and racist respectively. I personally love these two movies (and I know Year of the Dragon blu-ray was released in France recently).

The Keep - Kino got the rights, planned to do a 4K restoration, but were blocked from doing so, likely by Mann himself.

Twilight Time had been waiting on a 4K restoration to be done on the title, but they've now intimated (on FB) that Sony might release it themselves after all.

This not in a legal or copyright issue and is really just speculation on your part.

Disney's Song of the South has not been released since it's not PC (not sure if that counts).

Many of the various Macross movies and sequels remain only available in Japan due to legal issues with Harmony Gold, which holds the copyright for Robotech.

Little Darlings (1980). Originally released by Paramount and has not even had a DVD release yet (was supposed to get one by Lionsgate in 2012) due to some apparent music rights issues.

Little Monsters.

To my knowledge there aren't any Fright Night 2 rights issues according to the "You're so cool, Brewster" Doc but apparently just more of an issue with getting everyone in gear to get a release going. Whether thats worse than rights issues I don't know but we still have no official blu ray for Fright Night 2 either way.

Speaking of Paramount it boggles my mind that they still haven't released The War of the Worlds on BD yet or at least licensed it out to Olive.

Add it to the list of other titles they are sitting on. Frustrating stuff.

I'd take a barebones Olive release at this point.

Okay, and what are the legal / copyright issues holding all of these up? Or is this just your wishlist of unreleased titles?

How about Kill Bill The Whole Bloody Affair? Would love to see a Steelbook of that and a version of the film that is not a fan edit.

Not sure but RAD, Radioactive Dreams, and The Electric Grandmother never even got a DVD release (VHS only) , and I know RAD has particular contentious issues. Electric Grandmother I know the company that released the VHS went under a long a time ago. Not sure who has the rights now.

I consider most unreleased BD major films a legal issue (ie studio both refuses to license and release) as there are tons of obscure poorly performing films being released on BD every year. Lionsgate, Paramount and Disney tend to be the worst offenders in this regard.

Really surprised Strange Days has no release yet either. Fairly recent movie.

Yeah Paramount is an infuriating company. I can't believe there wasn't a 40th anniversary edition of The Bad News Bears last year. I would've taken a barebones release atleast.
