Default What's up with slip covers?

I've been collecting Blu-rays for two years now and just recently saw this fascination with Slip Covers. I see just as many people selling these things as the movies themselves. What am I missing? It's a piece of cardboard to me that I find completely useless. Why does everyone want these?

I don't understand it either, I've got a huge stack of them shoved in a drawer somewhere. I like all my movies to look the same on the shelf and since they don't all have slips they usually get pulled first thing.

I love the look of them. If I buy a movie that was released with one and I don't get the slipcover for it it doesn't seem complete.

Besides, I'm used to my collection not being uniform. To many great unique packaging out there for various releases.

I leave them on but i don't understand the fascination with cover or disc art either... my cases stay on the shelf. Custom covers i understand. When i buy a movie though i don't care if the slip is bent or not as some do. Hope those guys didn't peal off the coupon on Inglorious Basterds as it ripped my slip cover.... makes it look punk rock

If a movie comes with one......who cares?

If it doesn't come with one......who cares?

I care about the total package. The movie's transfer, disk and cover art, menu design, etc are all important to me.

In all honesty they are pretty useless. And they get damaged so easily.

As a collector, I don't find it hard to keep them in good condition. You just have to handle them carefully.

I don't really care for them, they look strange in my collection when i have a few with slip-covers and others with no slip-covers.

I like slipcovers, they are not a true deal breaker for me. But, they do look damn cool sometimes.

I say cut the consumption and bury the slip cover.

I prefer a slipcase but its not a must and it will not change or make my decision on buying the movie or not

All of my BD's so far have slipcovers, and they're kind of a pain, to tell you the truth. For the most part, they don't have art that's not on the insert.
