I want to buy a 32" LCD TV for my Mom in January -- what/where are the best places to buy one? I sometimes wonder about Best Buy because I have heard a few horror stories about buying TVs there (even Sonys, Sammys, Pannys, and LGs).
By the way, the TV will be either 720p or 1080p. Also, January will be a great time to catch a good sale with the Super Bowl coming up. Thanks! |

http://www.6ave.com/shop/home.aspx. I would highly recommend looking in to their prices. I purchased mine from them.

Look for Sears sales. Their regular prices are generally crap, but when they run sales their prices are usually ridiculously cheap. A lot of times their sale prices are even better than most online merchants'. Check out their website and see what they have on sale. Unlike Balls-Mart they actually have the same prices in-store and if for some reason its different they will match their website.

Abt is where I got my last TV.
If you are worried about returning the TV, you have to buy local for peace of mind. Best Buy is the only place I would buy local. If you are ok doing online shopping, that is where you will find the best deals. Dealzmodo (Gizmodo) runs a daily "deals" list that has a good TV section, collecting all the best deals from numerous retailers (online and off). Check it out. Keep an eye on Amazon. You can even add the TV you are interested in to your shopping cart and save for later. Then check back on your cart every once and a while and it will tell you if the price on that TV went up or down. Costco is a good place to look, TV selection is very limited, but you sometimes get lucky. I have heard that Vann's, Abe's of Maine, and 6thAve are good places to keep your eye on as well. It is all about deciding on the TV you want, then checking every retailer to see who has the best price. If a local store will price match the lowest price you found, then go with them, to make local return easier. If they won't, then just try to get the TV as cheap as you can. Best of luck. |
