is there anyway to get an idea how long each set has been at the store and how long it's been in use?

even though there demo's, your warrenty should start from the date of purchase so make sure you get all the original manuals and everything else and of course a receipt and go to the makers site and register it. if they tell you they don't have the original box, and stuff that was in the box, i'd ask for them to knock off a little bit more.

now, of course, i'd say go with the Sony, cause I have a sony. you have to look at both, make your own adjustments to each set to your liking and choose. but if you can't choose cause they appear to be evenly matched then go with the Sony!

best of luck, keep us posted.

Do a little research and find out the difference between the LN40A750 & LN40B750 and then from that make a decision about the Sony.

I know the LN40A750 is an older model.

I have the 52" A750 and LOVE it, and Im pretty sure the only difference between that and the b750 is the charcoal grey on the b and the red on the a, and the only difference between the a750 and the a850 is how thick the tv is

Do yourself a favor and resist the temptation to buy either. There are so many brand new models available for the same money that blow both of those away. HERE is a 40" LED LCD TV that is leagues better for $939 shipped.

Sorry but there is a huge difference between the A750 and the B750. The newer B750 has much better blacks and much better screen uniformity. Off-axis viewing is greatly improved as well. The B750 is arguably the best non-LED LCD available. The A750 was one of the best sets upon release, but the B750 is considerably better.
