Japan Amazon Japan Payment Processing Issue

Hey guys,

Just FYI: I don't know if any other US-based members have any orders in with Amazon.co.jp right now, but I do, and one of my orders is refusing to process payment, despite my re-authorizing the payment, and also trying two good Visa cards on it. I was able to fulfill an order with the same payment method(s) in the first week of October, and I have not altered any payment method information for months. I have already verified--twice--with my bank, that they are not seeing anything on their end at all, nothing approved, denied or otherwise flagged, in terms of authorization requests from Amazon.co.jp, so it looks like the issue is on Amazon's side, and may affect others.

I am working with Amazon.co.jp Customer Service (in English) on this issue, and am waiting for them to get back to me with a response from their billing department. I will post any updates as I get them, but if anyone has any orders due to ship this week, you may want to check your order history and/or your e-mail.

A few weeks ago Amazon.co.jp flagged my account with an offer to use their "Amazon Currency Converter" before I could place an order. I had to opt out before I could proceed. Since then, however, I've been able to order as usual.

Hope you get everything sorted out.

So, I finally received this order today, and now that I have it, I wanted to post what happened, as it may be relevant for others.

After again not being able to reconcile with Amazon.co.jp customer service, I called Amazon.com corporate in Washington State. After speaking with a few people who had no idea how to help, I was finally put through to a gentleman who told me he was the last stop for customers who couldn't be helped by the others. When I gave him my Amazon.co.jp order number, he informed me immediately that he saw it was a "stuck order", which is apparently, an order that refuses to go through on Amazon's end, and can sit for days, or possibly never be processed at all. Although I didn't technically clarify, his phrasing made it sound like all Amazon sites were equally vulnerable to this issue, which I would assume is rare, but obviously, significant enough that knowledgeable support staff know what it is. The gentleman advised me that I should simply cancel the order, and re-order the item, which, thankfully, had not changed in price, or sold out, between the date of my order and the shipping date. Once I did that, the new order processed successfully, and I received it this afternoon.

So, if anyone ever runs into an order that will not debit your card, even though your card is good, it may well be one of these "stuck" orders, and you may want to consider cancelling and re-ordering, possibly after advising the customer service department of the Amazon site you are using.

I was wondering if anybody else has had the following problem when ordering from Amazon.jp : I have a visa card, and have no problems ordering on Amazon com, uk, it, de, fr and I also order from dandt mailorder, diabolikdvd and yesasia. I have an account on Amazon.jp but have never successfully managed to place an order with my visa card. I am always able to place the order, but within minutes, the order is marked as red and asks me to select another payment method. Needless to say, the required cash is in my account each time I've tried to place an order. I've tried cancelling the order and re-ordering, but to no avail.

Any help would be useful, as when I've encountered this problem in the past, I've managed to find what I wanted elsewhere (eg yesasia) but at a higher price.

I'm eyeing the Dawn of the Dead box at the moment.

Thanks.

Ran into this problem just last week. I corrected it by deleting all my payment info and re-entering it. Problem fixed and items received in less Ghana week! FAST shipping!

Since this thread has been bumped, I suppose I will share that I ran into another order with the "Payment Revision Needed" flag. I placed a pre-order for this Blu-ray on 12/10/2015, and it sat, unchanged. Then, just before the release date (over two months later) I received the "Payment Revision Needed" e-mail from Amazon.co.jp. Since that is what precipitated the "stuck order" issue I had last time, I cancelled that order and re-ordered the Blu-ray with the same information. The new order did ship without issue.

I want to point out, however, that I don't know if this order had been flagged by my bank, as I did not bother to check with them beforehand.

Next week, when I'm paid, I'm going to try and order the Dawn of the Dead box. If it doesn't go through, once I've tried the methods already mentioned, I'm just going to do a "chat" with their CS. I will succeed in spending my money on Amazon.jp.

No idea if it will work or if you have already tried but my card used to work just fine at Amazon.co.jp for years but now for the past couple of years it has only worked if I choose to pay in euros. Because of that I always end up paying a bit of extra because of the exchange rates Amazon uses but at least I can order.
My card works just fine at other Amazons with the currencies of those countries.

Thanks I'll take that into account when I try again (I don't think that I ever tried changing the currency). I want that Dawn box real bad. It's very expensive for a far from perfect set, but it's the best that exists at the moment, and Amazon.jp definitely have it cheaper than elsewhere.

Dude, I just placed my order for the Dawn of the Dead box on Amazon.jp, and for once I placed my order in (the more expensive) euros...My order is now preparing for shipment!

I thank you but my wallet hates you

I have had an issue with payment not going through before too. What I did was bought an email gift card for amazon.jp and then just applied it to the order. For some reason it accepted my card for the gift card but not for the blurays.

When I ordered the Batman trilogy steelbooks last month my bank sent me a new debit card like 2 weeks afterwards saying suspicious activity at a unnamed location but looking at my statements the only non usual spot was the Amazon Jp charges (I very rarely use this debit card I use it to either withdraw cash and sometimes on line purchases if I don't feel like using my Amazon credit card) and last month the Amazon Jp was my only purchase items outside of withdraws and since I only use my banks ATMs I'm assuming they thought the charge was suspicious activity

Had the same issue today trying to purchase the final season of Glee. Never had the issue before from Amazon Japan ... but I tried it some many times my bank card finally considered it fraud and I had to confirm it was I who was placing the order that were declining.

I took GHornets advice and figured out the amount needed for the purchase and bought a e-mail Gift card and then applied that and it is all good now.

I had an order for some books and a figure I was really looking forward to, and out of nowhere, the payment just wouldn't go through.

At first, I thought maybe it was my card acting up (it’s happened before with international orders), so I re-entered the payment info, tried a second card, even double-checked all the billing addresses — but no luck. The weirdest part? I called my bank, and they said there were zero attempts to charge anything. Not declined, not pending — literally nothing even touched my account.
