Default under siege and topic of upgrading to blu-ray

This wasnt a great transfer oi who said it wasnt a great film either? lol just wanted to say that the only time this really looked HD was the mens uniforms sat round the table and also the overhead shots of the battleships as you could see all the people walking along them.I really like this film so why should i have a SD dvd when can i have the blu-ray i think its common sence to upgrade. My point is although the detail isnt great in some films it will still be a much cleaner image ive hardly noticed any digital artifacts etc with blu-ray when some dvds are a mess.

I remember when most movies came out in both dvd/vhs forms, alot of people didn't want to give up vhs either, mostly cause "older" people didn't really care about the picture quality too much, so same will go for dvds/blu-ray, as time wears on, more an more people will eventually catch on to the new technology and adopt it as the standard, and dvd will phase off eventually(might take a while) but once the price for blu-ray players and movies become the same as sd-dvd players/movies, then alot more people will switch and they won't go back.

Under Siege doesn't have the greatest transfer, but it is a step up from the DVD.

I'm watching this movie now..but something funny is odd with the sound.. after they blow up the fighter jet then they walk into this room where the lady says he's in big trouble it's like the treble goes up very high and I can hear ringing each time she speaks.

I have the DVD version and I never noticed that. It's a meh movie like most of Segal's movies but I wanted to get it on blu-ray

Lack of compression artifacts, better colors, yeah it's not just about more detail.

A few posters here have made region comparison threads and according to scources its one of those titles that's has a better transfer over seas. I can't confirm it as I haven't made personal comparisons. But it's on these boards.

That seems pretty wasteful to have one with better PQ then another version

Based on Blu-ray.com database it's not even released in the UK yet? In Sweden yes, maybe that's what you meant?

Oops. My mistake. I was thinking of The Siege with Denzel Washington. Ignore all my prior post.

Blu-ray's HD picture, and audio quality varies depending on the region. Their transfers are not the same.

I saw some screenshot comparisons between the DVD and the Blu-ray disc. The blu-ray appeared lighter, as the DVD is really dark sometimes and crushed. Also I noticed the difference in detail was sometimes astounding. On the BD, you can make out each medal and insignia on the Navy uniforms. On the DVD, you can only tell that they have an insignia, but not which one it is. Big difference, and this isn't even a good transfer.

they need to upgrade this blu ray. the audio and picture is poor quality. its like they rush it on to blu ray and every time we get a new one its a reissue.
this movie deserves at least 5.1 or higher DTS HD audio and a good HD blu ray transfer for PQ. why not do both Under siege 1 & 2.
its all about the action, sound effects, dialog, and the popcorn.

Totally agreed. I think it's a considerable step up from the DVD.

Couldn't resist the upcoming Japanese releases of the Under Siege films with slipcovers

The price, for what I'm getting, is beyond all lunacy. Absolutely insane
