Can someone please offer advice on any current or upcoming receivers (and/or receiver+speaker package)? I currently have a JVC that I've had for years with Cerwin Vegas and it sounds good...but since I upgrade my TV, my DVD to BD, my cable to HD, my PS2 to PS3...this is the final step. Any and all comments welcome.
PS - in case I'm not specific, i'm looking for 7.1 single room, HD audio, HDMI 1.3 input/outputs (the more the merrier), etc. Price range anywhere from $800-$2000 for the receiver...receiver/speaker package $2000-$3500. Thanks |

The Onkyo TXSR605 has gotten some rave reviews around these parts. I've got the Pioneer Elite VSX-91TXH and I love it. The Onkyo is significantly below your stated price range, and the Pioneer is about 1k (retail). I haven't had any problem with my Pioneer, I love it. I'm pretty sure it does multiroom (at that price point, most are going to, but I'm not 100% because it's not something I use), but you don't have to use it, obviously. But, it's HDMI 1.3, handles all the HD formats. I would recommend it for the receiver portion.

Ok i'll take a look. Thanks. I might end up going cheaper now then in a few months when HD audio takes off and more people are jumpin on the BD bandwagon then invest more.

Excellent...both denon and onkyo look worth while. Might have to put my order in today.
Any suggestions on speakers? |

From the looks you wouldn't think too much...i could fit almost the whole set in my one front speaker. But the reviews seem optimistic.
