Thumbs up Battlestar Galactica Season 1, first time viewing...

I'm not even halfway thru Season One yet and I'm enjoying it big time. My first time watching it too. Sucks I didn't watch it when it first aired, but man what a GREAT show so far. I just got done watching the episode where Starbuck is driving the Cylon Raider and that was pretty AWESOME!

I just wanted to tell someone...haha And I can't wait to buy Season 2 in April.

I didnt watch it when it was on TV, and im glad, I dont think I could have waited each week to see another hour of it. DVD/BD is the way to watch tv shows.

The ending to Season One I was like, "OMG". Season Two doesn't arrive until April and I don't know if I can wait that long...

Oh man, just wait till you get to the end of the season. I haven't met anyone who didn't immediately pick up season 2

Should have bought the complete series from Amazon UK for $150 shipped and you'd already have it and be saving yourself a lot of money as compared to buying them individually!

I tried 3 episodes or so. I usually dont quit watching shows early, but BSG felt really boring. And not boring as in no action, but nothing really happened.
Will it get better later on or will it stay like that.

[Show spoiler] Dont flame please

Read the big thread on the series.....it gets way better. If you've watched 3 episodes I'm assuming you are still in the Mini-Series...and the first Season gets way better. Hang in with it, it does get better.

The miniseries episodes on disc one are mainly designed to set up the actual series, but if you're referring to '33' and the two episodes that follow it, BSG may not be the show for you (especially considering '33' is hailed as one of the series' finest). But hey, not every show is for everyone

Thanks for the replies, I will give it a second chance then.
The episodes I saw involved:
[Show spoiler]Some bombs were missing on the ship or something and I remember some girl being stuck on a different planet with some other dude or something, while it was raining. Yeah that doesnt really help does it.

A friend let me borrow her complete series and I've been going through them the last week. I purchased Season One separately and after that finale, I couldn't wait til April.

Having gone through Season Two and one disc away from finishing Season Three, I still can't believe I let this show slip through my radar. It's fantastic. I can see why the hardcore fans think Season Three is the worse but I don't really see it that way.

Considering how things went down at the end of Season Two, Season Three needed to be like it is. It's more character oriented than plot oriented like Seasons One and Two.

Still, as a whole, this is the best sci fi TV series in history. There's nothing close.

Season 2 was the best of the 4... but I enjoyed them all. Great series.

I would definitely suggest starting from the beginning then. The mid-season episodes you mentioned won't pack nearly as much punch until after you've seen the preceding episodes. I doubt you'll still think nothing is happening once you understand why the pair of people on the planet are so important to the story, and how much is actually happening in their scenes

I certainly share your enthusiasm.

Like you I never watched the show when it originally aired, but heard nothing but good things about it. I scored a great deal on the box set and decided to go for the blind buy. My wife and I started watching these back in November and we're really hooked on the series. My wife isn't much into sci-fi or fantasy, but she absolutely loves BSG and is probably way more into it than I am. As soon as we're done with an episode she's like "want to watch another one?" lol

I pity anyone who hasn't seen this series.
