United Kingdom The Terminator?

just a couple of questions,

1. will they release the terminator (1984) on blu in uk.
2. Which version of t2 is better, the first or the skynet edition

Ben your a naughty boy for building my hopes up, when i saw this thread I thought a UK release was finally pencilled. It will surely be released at some point in the future, when? Who knows.

As for T-2, I've only seen the Skynet edition which I'm more than happy with, although there is some noticable DNR - not in the same league as Predator UH Ed, I'm told the original release doesn't have this problem.

1: Do not know. Not seen an anouncement yet so we have to wait and see.

2: I got both editions. The first one is better in terms of PQ but is only the directors cut and has a 5.1 16bit soundtrack.

The skynet edition has 3 version of the film but PQ is less but has a 6.1 24bit sound track.

It depends on what your looking for but if PQ is on top of the list then the first one is to go for.

I've thought about getting the US import, but weren't they talking of remastering it as many thought the quality wasn't great? Having said that, I don't want any remaster they do to be a Predator UHE job, so if the current transfer is good enough, then that's the one I'll get.

Eh, the transfer is only alright. Nothing special but I got it for a fiver and didn't have it on DVD so it was worth it for me.

Hoping for T1, and with a good restoration. I got T2 Skynet Steelbook. Disappointed with audio really. No 6.1 DTS-HD MA as on the back cover, but 5.1. But there is a German 7.1 DTS-HD MA. Transfer could've/should've been much better. Did send an email to Optimum, no response as yet.

Yeah... hopefully in the not too distant future, we'll get these with the proper treatment they deserve. Like I said, for T2 Skynet, definitely disappointed with no 6.1 as advertised (why 7.1 for German, and not for English either), merely OK video transfer. Never watched it since I first checked it out on my player.

I thought the transfer for the Skynet Edition was excellent apart from the mild DNR. The original release looksl more filmic (from the captures I've seen) doesn't really add more detail but it is more natural looking.

Fair enough, I'll give it another go, maybe it gets better, I only really checked out the beginning, but I do know it does not have 6.1 audio. Ah well, still sounded impressive.

Don't think it can be helped. Each to their own, really. Although when the cover says 6.1 DTS-HD MA, I expect 6.1 DTS-HD MA,.

Come on, they don't look great. Most of us want these movies to look like film, and that's not what these releases look like.

I agree, they could be better. Still, perhaps one day they'll get better releases, they're probably not the worst BD releases out there.

Original and Japan Premier Edition. SKYNET Edition ONLY for the extras.

For THE TERMINATOR, I'd rather wait for a release which has the 1.0 track lossless, AVC with correct theatrical colour timing, film grain galore and all the extras from the Special Edition. Including more.
Too bad James Cameron is being a revisionist twat and not leaving his films as they were in cinemas. Unlike Ridley Scott where he has an extremely comprehensive release of all versions readily available for many of his films, where applicable.

I was expecting a decent release for the Skynet Edition. Luckily it was only £7.49 Steelbook on that sale. I won't say it's the worst, certainly not, but it should've been better.

Got sick of waiting so I bought the US digibook (well I thought I did) from ebay for a £15. Joker sent me a pirated blu. He couldn't refund me quick enough when I kicked up a stink but surely there must be room for a UK release of this soon?

I hate importing US titles apart from Criterions.
