Question Wrong voltage on Sharp Aquos? Odd fix for buzzing sound..

Hi,

I had a loud buzzing from my tv last week and called Aquos Advantage. The super nice and friendly lady booked an appt for today to have someone come out and look at it.

The guy showed up and was here for maybe 5min. All he did was look at my menu settings, and adjust the Backlight to 11 out of 16. He said that this is why the buzzing was happened, and it was due to the voltage being too low. Increasing this increases the voltage of the back lamps.

I told him but that would change my picture quality but he didn't feel like listening. After he left I set my backlight to 3 out of 16.

Anyone else know if this "fix" makes any sense at all??

Thanks

Um..., I dont get why the backlight being brighter would stop the buzzing if anything I would think it would make it worse...

Your guess is as good as mine. I think that since it was a warranty call, they just come and try and leave in as quick as time possible. Pretty lame if you ask me.

Thanks

FYI

Sharp Aquos Advantage support is horrible. The customer service is not helpful at all and the "premium" service is not premium at all.

I like the Aquos product, but just don't expect support to help you out at all.

Thanks

I had buzzing on both of my Samsung LCD's. They sent a tech out and he replaced EVERYTHING but the screen on one of them, still no better. It would go away if the back light was set all the way up at 10 or turned all the way down to 0. I believe what you are hearing is the voltage regulator that controls the back light and the noise goes away under the 2 conditions because it is either totally open or closed at those 2 points.

I am now having to get my tv taken away to be looked at for further tests. Hopefully these further tests consist of longer than 3min of looking at the menu setting.

The tech I spoke with says if they have to replace the panel, thats a big job and costs alot, blah blah blah. I'm not impressed at all with the service thus far. I'm tempted to just email the head of tech support as I have his email.

Anyways, at least I still have my 37" still!

Thanks
