Default The Tunnel (2011) Limited to 1000 Copies Available Now

Has anyone besides me bothered to check this out? I was finally able to get my hands on an official Blu Ray copy of the film just today as my copy arrived from Australia. I was lucky enough to get #153 (Hand signed on the spine). These initially went up for sale a few years back, but were later pulled after problems with the website developed. Currently the site is back up and running for anyone interested. The film has quite an interesting history behind it.

Quote:
Production
The film was funded using a crowd-funded financing model, as part of the 135k Project, where the film's writer-producers Enzo Tedeschi and Julian Harvey sold individual digital frames of the film for A$1, to try and raise the film's A$135,000 target budget. However this method only managed to raise approximately A$36,000, so the filmmakers exerted a certain "creativity" to complete the film with this limited budget.

Principal photography took place in Sydney, comprising on-location shoots in some of the city's disused underground tunnels, as well as a public pool and the Navy's WWII air raid shelters at Garden Island. It was shot non-sequentially in 14 days (including pick-ups), and then edited by the writing-producing team of Enzo Tedeschi and Julian Harvey.

Release
The film has been noted for its modes of release and distribution. In addition to its conventional modes of release, including a limited Australian theatrical release, screenings on Showtime Australia, and an Australian and New Zealand DVD release through Paramount Pictures Australia and Transmission Films, also released in North America in the theater and DVD by Blackrock Films, the film has garnered much attention for its unconventional release through BitTorrent. The Tunnel is the first Australian film to be distributed and promoted legally through the BitTorrent internet downloading platform, a release strategy which could potentially expose the film to tens of millions of people, for free. This free and legal online release is a cooperation between the filmmakers, peer-to-peer distribution platform VODO and BitTorrent Inc., which is distributing the film through an app on its client.

On 18 May 2011 The Tunnel had its official premiere at Event Cinemas, Bondi Junction, at a Popcorn Taxi screening and Q&A event, and was also released simultaneously on DVD, TV and BitTorrent
I initially watched it in 2012/2013 via online distribution. At the time the Blu Rays were being sold for $49.99 AUD and I just couldn't bring myself to pay the price... as it turns out my patience paid off. Today the film can be had for $29.99 AUD which is only $24.95 shipped to the US.

Over the last few years I've really become a big time fan of the independent horror scene. There are several really good films that are out there that have had zero exposure but are well worth checking out. This was one of the more obscure titles coming from Australia, but given the Region Free Blu Ray treatment (which is Why I'm posting about it here). I really think it's worth checking out for fellow horror fans. It's not going to blow you away, but it is an enjoyable film. Check it out for free via any number of Torrent sites, and if you like it, consider jumping on the Blu Ray before it's gone forever. Each copy comes with an official film cell attached on the cover as well which is a cool touch.

I've tried to write a review here on the site, but as the site still reflects the movie as being unreleased, I am unable to post anything. Has anyone else checked this film out or picked up one of the limited Blu Rays?

I watched it, when they first released it online. Never got around to get the BD, but I remember liking it quite a bit. Fine effort for an extremely low-budget production.

I have fixed the title in the database so that it now features a release date and can be edited.

I reviewed the film back when it was initially released and also picked up this edition (Number 14 which is also signed by the director, producer and star)

Their new project is also going to go live soon! Airlock

HOLY HALLOWEEN FREEBIES!
Thanks to our friends at Deadhouse Films, for one-week only you can grab a hard-copy of The Tunnel Movie FREE (plus the cost of shipping)!
Get in quick - these Blu-Rays are Limited Edition and not available in stores!!

http://www.deadhousefilms.com/free-t...rays-and-dvds/
These are limited to 1000 Copies world wide and each copy comes with a Film Cell (Each copy is also individually numbered). I already purchased the film last Spring for full price, but picked up another copy to sell/trade in the future. Total cost to myself in the US... $6.57.

This is an all around Solid Film I've recommended earlier in the thread and one that is well worth the Small asking price. You won't have it for Halloween, but it's well worth owning! Get it while you Can!

Thanks for posting that TripleHBK, I just ordered an extra Blu-ray as well.

This is an excellent low-budget horror film, and it includes a very in-depth making-of/behind-the-scenes special feature. Do yourself a favor and buy it now, you can thank us later

Thanks TripleHBK! Quite a nice surprise being able to grab this on blu for less than 7 bucks

I really dug this movie when I watched it a few years back. Creepy and a bit unique for a found footage flick with the interviews spliced in. This and Lake Mungo make a nice Aussie creepy combo~
