Default Is the Def Tech PF-1500 a good sub??

There is a guy locally who has the Definitive Technology PF-1500 subwoofer for $250. What do you guys think? I can't find it anywhere, because I think it is a couple of years old. It had 250W continuous. He says he paid $1000.

Def Tech makes quality speakers and subwoofers. This same question was asked on the AVS forum.

If you decide to buy it, give us your impressions and I will eventually merge your thread into the Def Tech subwoofer owners thread.

I have that very sub in my system today and it still kicks butt! For $250, as long its in good condition, you will be most impressed with its performance. Beware, its big and heavy! And yes, it retailed for about $1,000 back in the early 90's.

I have that sub in my upstairs system...really nice piece...good deep bass. My only "complaint" (other that a less than resiliant "sock" speaker grill that def tech employs) is that the high pass filter is only a switch for 50 Hz or 100 Hz, rather than a control knob for more control...but bass wise...it''l certainly do the trick!
