Default Carrie (2002) & The Rage: Carrie II via Scream Factory

Carrie / The Rage: Carrie 2 Blu-ray

*NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENTS**

Our month-long "Shocktober" celebration continues with two more films to reveal: CARRIE - the 2002 TV-movie remake of Stephen King’s timeless tale of telekinetic revenge which stars Angela Bettis - and THE RAGE: CARRIE II - the 1999 theatrical sequel to Brian DePalma's original 1976 masterpiece and stars Amy Irving - will make their debut on the Blu-ray format next Spring as a double-feature.

There are no details on extras at this time (if any are planned) and they will be announced sometime next year, along with a confirmed street date.

On a relevant side note (and in case you were wondering): We did try to acquire the Sissy Spacek classic last year in the hopes of doing a “Collector’s Edition” version and a new transfer but it did not pan out for various reasons. We can’t get them all.

We still have more films to announce in the next couple of weeks so stay tuned this month here on our page to be the first to see them!

Oh hell yes!!
I've been wanting Carrie (2002) for a while now! Looking forward to see how it looks. I've only ever had my VHS recording of the original TV broadcast.

Interesting titles.

Shame you couldn't get the original, but please please promise you will never try to acquire the godawful remake from last year

Great, I've wanted that TV version. It's definitely not that good but Angela Bettis is way better than Chloe Moretz and the movie at least tries to do a lot of different stuff from the De Palma one, unlike the new remake which was so close as to be pointless.

I just bought a three-pack within the last year with the original (for the features not on the BD), the sequel and the TV movie. Oh well, good to have it on Blu

I've never seen the 2002 version, but I've heard that it's closer to the book, with more of a non-linear story structure and interviews of the survivors. Although, I don't think any version of Carrie has ever used the book's ending.

I figured that The Rage: Carrie 2 was one that would never see a blu-ray release. It's been a long time since I last saw it, so I look forward to seeing it again. The announcement of this one makes me almost positive that Disturbing Behavior will be announced before the end of the month.

Yay! Egregious crappy sequel and remake bundled together for easy avoidance!

Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie, hard stop.

It will be interesting to see how the 2002 tv movie looks on Blu-ray. I'm assuming it was shot on film, but like most tv product mastered for SD video. Was this an exception in the early days of HD mastering? Perhaps the film was edited and mastered on HD? Let's hope an up-conversion isn't released as "High Definition". Unless this was edited on film (which was sometimes done for tv films, for overseas theatrical release.) is it possible they have done a HD "reconstruction"? Which seems like an expensive process for this release.

The '02 Carrie was shot on HD digital video and definitely looks it; it aired on Encore in HD last month for their Stephen King tribute and it looked surprisingly good but a bit dated.

Awesome! That's good to know. I've never seen the remake, but if the price is right I'll check it out.

It was well acted. Emily Bergyl (Southland, Shameless) is a great actress. Mena Suvari has a supporting role too. Amy Irving was a good touch. The effects were pretty good too. The TV movie was ok. Angela Bettis is also an amazing talent. What about MAY shout factory?

The original Carrie is nearly flawless and one of my favorite movies, but so is May. I consider the TV remake worth watching just as a test drive of sorts for Angela Bettis in May. She's really good.

Angela Bettis made a great Carrie in the 2002 TV remake; glad to see that on blu-ray (goodbye to my DVD copy).

I do too. Carrie 2 was filmed at a High School in my hometown.
My younger brother will actually be enrolled their in a couple years!

I always have liked both of these Carrie follow-ups, even Carrie 2 is good in my eyes. I could care less if they shoe-horned Carrie into it, I still liked it. And its sooooo 90's. Like oozing 90s! lol. And the Angela Bettis remake is very good as well. In fact I don't actively dislike any of the Carrie films.

YES!! Make Disturbing Behavior happen! That movie is a guilty pleasure and I will admit I'm excited for this announcement because The Rage: Carrie 2 is also a guilty pleasure for me. They were banking off the success of Scream and Final Destination, the deaths are really cool in this movie!

If they do Disturbing Behavior, I'd love if they put the deleted scenes back into the movie, the way it aired on the SyFy Channel (only not edited for TV of course). The movie works so much better with those scenes to fill the gaps.

I'm surprised so many people like the TV version. I didn't think it was all that great. I mean, I wouldn't say it sucked, but it definately wasn't all that good either. If I want to watch Carrie, that would be the last version I would pick.
