I am not familiar with the specific Ortofon Cartridge. But, Ortofon has a very good reputation for mid priced to more expensive MC cartridges.

I agree as I've heard likewise. What was the price prior to their "blowout" sale? Can't seem to find it.

Greetings,
I couldn't find any prices prior to the blowout sale aswell..I did read somewhere though that they had the HMC-20 at almost 50% off, and it's close out sale was $299.(none left).....So if the HMC-30 was around $100 more i would think that it that would put it in the $650 range..

I am using a cheap ortofon MC 1 turbo right now...I have had a Benz Micro Silver as a loaner for abit and really liked it but if this cartridge is as good and for around the same price i would pick it up as i do like the ortofon sound.

From what I have been able to gather, the cartridge was introduced in 1991 and had a list price of $500. I am not suggesting that you purchase this 20 hour one on Audiogon, but it may provide you with a little more information:

I already saw that one last night and looked through the specs and compared it to the Blue Ronda...They appear to be close in that regard..But specs aren't everything..

Guess i'll keep digging.

I was only suggesting that you look at the comments regarding the performance of the cartridge by the seller and also to the fact that Needle Doctor had compared the unit to the $800 Rondo Blue and not the specs.

Ozz,

Sounds like it might be a very good purchase then. I don't think that you will be disappointed and it should be an improvement over your other Ortofon cartridge.
