Default What Tech Will It Take To Break Avatar's Record?!?!

Avatar will break the Titanic record, in record time! No question the addition of a quality 3D presentation and the imagery was the catalyst!

Any predictions on what tech will need to be tied to the next film to break Avatar's record?!?!

New tech called Imovies will be streamed directly into your eye, which Apple will call your Ihole. The sound will be picked up by your ears, which will be called your Iear. No screens, no 3D, no Blu-ray. Just the Ihole and Iear.

Don't think it is just a question of technology, either for Avatar's success or for the movie that will eventually break its records. It takes a combination of factors to make a movie that captures the public's imagination the way Avatar and past blockbusters have.

I agree. Don't take this the wrong way, because I think Avatar was awesome and deserves the recognition it is getting. The major factor that will decide when Avatar is dethroned will be ticket prices. In 10 years if movie prices are at $15 a ticket with an extra charge for 3D we will have a new winner.

But it will have to a movie that as the public totaly win over as well. Ticket prices have been rising for the past 15 years so Titanic should have been pass before this. All as to come together with a movie that as everyone is in love with.

I find it humorous that people are admitting, even if subconsciously, that Avatar's success was based on people buying tickets to see cool special effects and the plot or acting isn't really a consideration..... "What??? Plot??? Acting??? What are those??? "

I haven't seen the movie.... the previews make it look like something that really isn't "For Me" and I don't care for watching things in 3-D really, or at least it's not something I'd go out of my way for, so I didn't rush out to see this one...... It'll be a rental for me.......

Movies will break the sales record eventually, because they don't adjust those for inflation, and ticket prices go up

Also.... in a time of economic recession, it's proven that people see more movies.... looking for "Escapism" so the timing was certainly right for a big blockbuster like this one.

No problems ... just wait a few years and you won't need a keyboard. You will type verbally with the Itongue.

Most of Avatar's success is hype-related. It was a good movie, but definitely not a great movie. I went in to the theatre knowing it was not a great movie from watching the previews and reading reviews, however, it was a spectacle that needed to be seen.

Eventually, some movie will pass Avatar. The world's population is growing, there is greater affluence in much of the third world, and ticket prices keep going higher. New technology is probably not going to make a great difference. What it will take is a movie which has the "it" factor. Titanic, a movie which has aged very poorly, had state-of-the-art CGI fro that time, but it was the story that hooked people. Essentially every woman in America (and every man who wanted to have sex with a woman) had to go see Titanic.

The next record setter will marry state of the art 3-D with a compelling story.

Ticket prices already are $15 in some areas. I went to see it at an IMAX in Omaha, NE tickets were $15 a piece.

My guess is it will be some kind of virtual reality porn movie than incorporates an improved version of the buttkicker tech.
