Sorry
Agree with Chris on this one. BBY wasn't making a profit on this at all.

It's not physically possible now....they don't have enough movies in stock....if three people came in the store in one day they'd have to cancel the promotion before it could start....

When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east.

When the seas go dry. When the mountains blow in the wind like leaves.

I loathe Anderson, the move of the movies to the back, and the mixing of DVD and BD. It took me a couple visits just to figure out their unneeded new setup.

Best Buy may not have another U&S promotion. It's been six month since their last one. They may surprise everyone, and revive the U&S promotion later on, but I doubt it very much. The U&S could've been temporary initially anyway, not permanent.

Cool

One gets the feeling the U&S program may have been like the dealer that gives you a free hit to get you hooked...

They've got people to see the Bluray difference, now people have to pay to get their fix...

Funny and kinda sad, but true. Seems like every year BB does something to give me less reasons to visit their store. Looks like I'll continue to use amazon prime more often.

I don't really miss the U&S program that much...BB has been selling a ton of titles for $4.99 lately, and you don't have to go through the hassle of taking your DVDs to the service desk and having them inspect them with a magnifying glass and question your use of additional coupons or whatever.

Yeah I think that since they've been doing this lately, U&S is a little less relevant, even though with that you had more say in what you could get 5 dollars off of.

Obviously an exaggeration on your part. Anyways, all my BB stores were always cool about the U&S program. All they did was open the case notice if the disc was inside and proceed with your coupons, that's it.

I benefited greatly from the Best Buy Upgrade & Save in early 2012, when I was replacing my DVDs with the respective Blu-rays. It's a good thing for people who are new to Blu-ray and who are interested in quickly building up some essentials in their collection.

After the first couple of Upgrade & Save deals, I got the point where I owned most of the Blu-rays available in the store that are worth owning. I appreciated that promotion while I was making the best of it, though.

I liked the promotion too. Here in Canada, Best Buy and its sister store Future Shop offered it, and even HMV had something similar for a while back in 2011 when I first was into blu-ray. It really helped to build up my library and to get rid of DVDs that I would have struggled to sell for a buck anywhere else.

The only problem I had was that whenever the promotion started up again (every six months or so?) the staff at the counter had no effing clue how to process the DVDs and give me my discounts, so there would be two or three of them struggling to figure out what the hell to do, and this was EVERY time. Even if I went back the following week to trade in more, whoever was working that day would have no clue either, it was frustrating as hell and pathetic to watch.

Mine didn't even care if the disc matched the cover, and it was great way to get rid of those ugly Blockbuster cases I've accumulated during various store closings. Plus you could just include disc 1 of a 2-disc set, and keep the extras disc to go with your BD that misses some extras. If BB had a better selection, and/or would've taken those annoying Playboy dvds I get now and then for subscribing, it would've been the best thing ever!

There were times when I had anything worth owning in the store also, but still, most dvds I got $5 for were worth a penny or less (I tried selling some and rejected by all 4 used stores at the time, and all were a penny on amazon). For that, the promo will be greatly missed. I don't think I ever traded the same title for the BD though.
