Talking Watching Godzilla

https://forum.blu-ray.com/2851355-post13.html

Sense reading a comment regarding Godzilla as a load loud rubbish.

Presently watching this on region 2 DVD its like watching the godfather a classic.
Now I’d buy the bluray for the 24fps rate and DolbyTrue

Opening of the film shows the evil different counties use of WOMD Weapons of Mass Destruction. Atomic bomb testing that has been used in the pacific on remote islands where its only inhabitants are lizards. Over the years the radiation has mutated the DNA into super hybrid genetically altered lizard. Size does make a difference.

It’s got destructive clichés written all over it lets destroy New York again! I think the aliens in ID4 did a nice job or it. Godzilla does it in way that has pissed off mayor ranting about the thing wreaking the city, LOL.

I’m rather pissed that the U.S. Military is the bad guys in the film and Godzilla is just trying to live out his life in peace. He doesn’t know he’s destroying the city? To Godzilla it’s just another island.

It’s sad at the end when Godzilla is killed on the bridge by the evils of the U.S. Military destructive weapons of mass destruction.

The visual effects for 12 year old film looks quite impressive.

The line in the film that makes me laugh.
Pilot - Damn! That is negative impact. Repeat that is negative impact
- Negative impact, sir.
Mayor - Negative impact. That’s the damn Chrysler Building where talking about here.

What’s the hell matter with you people? You caused more god damn damage than that thing did?

Here have some candy?
- mayor calm down sir, have some candy.
Mayor -I don’t want any candy, leave me along!

Chapter 17 Bollocks no way, can that happen without all-or-few of those helicopters colliding into each other in mid air fight in narrow flight path between all those skyscrapers.

And last of, I like Godzilla.

Yes, but that was just his mistake.
The rest of us had meant it as a comment regarding the '98 Godzilla as a load dopey, clueless, incompetent, asinine, fan-disrespectful rubbish whose script read like it was written by a picked-on 12-yo. Loud, we don't mind.

Seriously I almost fell asleep watching The Godfather Part III even thou the running time was shorter than Dances of Wolves which I saw within the same week 1990.

Dances with Wolves had neat and interesting Dolby stereo SR mix. The Godfather Part III had boring Dolby stereo SR mix that only got funny when the helicopters surrounded the scummy gangsters and shot them all up from a high elevation!

I vaguely recall seeing coloured versions of Godzilla at the cinema Saturday morning matinee.

It’s a guy in suit thing and the 1998 version is CGI Computer Godzilla Interactive!

The 1990’s was loud! Twister, Independence Day, Face/off wow there where some really bright mid range to high end toppy films around the time.

Are Movies Too Loud?

34 minutes left to the film. Wow its like Jurassic Park with all the lizards chasing Matthew Broderick. steps into a lift. Doors open on next level. -Wrong floor. LMAO

I liked the '98 film, I saw it three times back when it was in theaters in '98 and I remember the last time I had seen it in theaters was on my 9th birthday. To me, it tries to hard to be like the King of the Monsters but tried something completely different. I picked the Blu-ray up on day #1 and it was a loud as hell experience.

I love the original and will always love the original Japanese Godzilla films because that is what I grew up on. We were going through a bunch of old home movies that were filmed around my 4th B-day in '93 and there's footage of me talking about Godzilla Vs The Sea Monster. I have the old Goodtimes VHS of the film and I was sure as s**t disappointed by the Sony because of the English dubbing being different on the disc.

Three times lucky bugger. I only saw it once and yes I would have seen it again. Too bad the cinema had lousy way outdated screen fronts Volt that are some 40 years old loaded with JBL 15” bass mid and JBL HF horns that are up to date. The enclosures can’t manage a deep high sound pressure level without audible distortion?

No sub bass extension behind the screen and at the time Odeon cinema used a pair of cheap hi-fi speakers for surrounds! That is no lie! If I only had digital camera at the time!

Even thou I’m playing this at early morning hours I have no difficulty in hearing soft whispery spoken dialogue. The effects in the mid range are not as loud as before I had the Behringer DCX2496.

I generally aim for an 85db peak and that’s loud enough.

16 minutes left

-12 minutes 120 minutes they killed Godzilla bastards!

I like the David Arnold score towards the end shows that they didn’t get all the eggs brings a tear or two.

8 minutes is typical average for end credits while some tend to be close to 11 minutes. I think that was Alien Verses Predator?

Godzilla rap!

Re-recoding mixers
Kevin O’Connell
Greg P. Russell

Bet they had blast with this on the dubbing stage SDDS8.

THE END.

Wow I’m going to watch it again.

Like the main menu animated with music Scenes has the scenes in motion only few DVD titles have this type of feature. Helicopters and sirens!

Like the Dolby neon city introduction to Godzilla now that is one thing most Bluray titles don’t have which is Dolby introduction!

Like the Centroplis introduction of airship moving along the left-sidewall array surrounds and the seaboat airplane flying past the right-sidewall array surrounds.

The planning preparation of using a remote island by the French for atomic bomb testing. Stop the testing! Stop the testing!

Kaboom! Wow those weapons are just sheer ugly and demonstrable!

I wonder how many years, these islands will remain contaminated by all, the radioactivity that has poisoned it?

It’s not the short of island you, want to hang out on for sunbathing.

And sadly, the guy in suit thing still kicks the CGI Computer Godzilla Interactive's tail fifty years later:

I did not enjoy the 98 version but don't hate it either. Just felt it was too much an American version. Why do they feel the need to make American version of everything that is usually better in the original version?

Well, it started out when Sony bought Columbia, and they wanted to do one (more faithful) trans-Pacific project as a cultural stunt, to crossover both markets and ease fears about a Japanese studio buying an American one, and then after a long delay, Jan DeBont lost the rights after version was bought out by Emmerich & Devlin, when they wanted to spend their new ID4 money on fixing other people's long-delayed FX projects, and...

(...Oh, wait, the "why" was rhetoric, wasn't it? Sorry. )

Pretty much but we all know the need for American industries to have copy of what others have created in other to sell in to their American counterpart. It's much better to watch American actors in a much simpler, CGI movie then watching foreign actors in the original.

Didn’t they use to be owned by the Coca-Cola company hence all the coke-can, product placement in the 1980’s. ‘Ghostbusters’ has coke cans in the fridge. “Look at all the junk food.”

I think I’ve seen the odd Sony product placement in later years.
