When it comes to remakes, we're are own worst enemies. If film goers (myself included) had gathered in mass and had slayed Michael Bay back in '02 when he decided to get Platinum Dunes in the Horror remake business, things might be different. Unfortunatly, we didn't, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre made a nice profit (and was a pretty decent movie to be fair), followed closely by the even better (both quality and profitability) remake of Dawn of The Dead, and studios realised there was a market for remaking classic horror films. Unlike the J-Horror remake craze of the early 2000's, the classic horror remakes have continued to be profitable, and untill they stop being profitable, none of our beloved films are safe.
Anyone wanna bet against seeing remakes of: Gremlins Scanners Poltergeist Child's Play Killer Klowns From Outerspace Fright Night Re-Animator Dead Alive Return of The Living Dead Evil Dead ? (If any of these are already on the fast track to remake mediocrity, chalk it up to intentional ignorance). |

The new F13 was good right up untill the first group of kids got killed. AWWIL is a classic and we all know they will use the crap out of CGI and will turn it into the steaming pile of $hit that was AWWIP
