Default Blu-ray Format Growth Rate

The Nielsen numbers certainly seem to suggest Blu-ray is gaining new consumers while HD is stagnant or only slightly increasing at best.

Thought this was interesting...

RV, Are We Done Yet? & Talladega Nights are the most viewed BDs right now.

I can't imagine anyone entering the high def market at this point purchasing an HD-DVD player. That sort of leaves nobody to buy them except perhaps those who made the mistake of purchasing a bunch of HD-DVD movies and having their old HD-DVD player crap out on them.

Given the claims of massive success selling cheap HD DVD players, and many weeks this summer with HD DVD having significant release count advantage, something is happening to totally neutralize those affects.

HD DVD has nothing left to offer. How much cheaper can they make them? How many more titles that few will buy can Universal offer?

And, BD has barely tried so far this summer. The real effort begins in a few months.

I actually think this is just someone overclicking poor titles to make it look like blu fans have no taste. These are indicated as most read for the week. There's no way RV is getting more interest than 300. Also, I'm sure Black Christmas has not been viewed 1,800+ times this week. These numbers are screwy.

what's that free endcap from Wal-mart if we mention your name in a movie...

Ricky Bobby: Hey. I'm Ricky Bobby. Christmas is right around the corner. And what better gift to give a loved one, than the Jackhawk 9000. Avaible at WalMart.

Whoa...Whoa...J.Nomak. Sony just signed Dale Earnhardt Jr. as their spokesman. What do you think Middle-America watches?? These are the folks who are gonna push Blu-ray over the top. Not a bunch a picky-pecky HT buffs on the BR.com site.

Before you know it they'll stop giving away 5 free discs and offer a coupon for a free 12 piece bucket from KFC.

Fried Chicken and a new fangled blu-ray player... now there's a good old evening of fun for the whole family. ^_^
