Default Xbox 360

A spokesman from Microsoft anounsed recintaly that the next version of Windows would be avalable on HD-DVD. If Microsoft Windows is released on HD-DVD this would probably mean that "Xbox 2" would use HD-DVD as well.

I forgot launch date announced:

"Microsoft Corp. will launch its Xbox 360 games console on Nov. 22 in the U.S., the company announced at a news conference in Tokyo on Thursday.

That will be followed by launches in Europe on Dec. 2 and Japan on Dec. 10, said Yoshihiro Maruyama,"

They are already making reservations in France for the X360, apparently it seems that they don't want to crash down... Will they offer a controller and two games when the price will fall from 80 € ?

They will surely do it too, the N64 analog stick was copied by SONY to do the Dual Shock Pad. :|

If they had copied it as you suggest then Nintendo would have taken them to court. I personally see little resemblance between the dual shock pad and the N64 pad, and forgive me if my timing is out but the dual shock appeared on the first PlayStation, which predates the appearance of the N64?

I know the dual shock wasn't the original controller, but I remember buying one for an F1 game in 96 or 97.

You can buy USB devices that allow you to use a dual shock pad on PC games. MS are using this xbox360 controller for PC games as a gimmick. Let's face it, major PC games will be available on xbox360 as well, so what's the point? Do MS expect people to buy the same game for the 360 and their PC? It's all part of their attempt to move PC and the 360 closer together. Frankly that's the last thing I want, which is why I'll go for a PS3 and PSP combo.

N64 is 1996 in Japan, 1997 in Europe sadly... SO they had one whole year to copy it

Now Xbox360 enthousiasts wont buy the console anymore and start playing the games on their PCs now with the controller
Couldn't it be possible that its a bad move from M$?
I sure hope so :?

if you are going to say sony copied the joypad from N64 i would say that is feasible, especially since the basic PS3 controller is pretty much looks like the super nintendo controller

but the good thing about Sony is that they'll always admit when something is better, they don't fake like they're wrong (like Microsoft so often does), instead they just 'adopt' (*steal*) another idea, but i really commend them for their approach.

Remember that PS one was supposed to be an SNES CD extension ^^. But I fully agree with you ! "Adopt" ideas like those ones is pretty good ^^.

PS : Maybe Nintendo was really afraid of being copied again that they presented the "remote-pad" of the Revolution later after the others ?

that doesn't make sense since Sony and Nintendo are completely different company; Playstation 1 was among the new game consoles designed to replace the super nintendo

i think they knew they would have to make an innovative strive this time around rather than rely on being the 'cheap' console. i think its a really wierd idea they chose but i like wierd, unusual is my standard these days.

Actually, Nintendo hired Sony to work on a SNES CD-rom expansion. Nintendo changed their mind and backed out on Sony costing them a whole lot of R&D money and basically said screw you Sony. Sony took the plans for the SNES CD-rom thing and turned it into the PS1 and ran it against Nintendo outselling every console to date and really making Nintendo regret their wrongdoing.

Exactly Nintendo also hired Philips but the result was another console too, or if we can talk about console... The CD-I was really mineable... Nintendo "helped" Philips also, they made three Zeldas for the CD-I (Zeldas with horrible loading time thanks to the CD-ROM player  )
