I doubt we ever see the X-Files series on Blu-ray. The Blu-ray market is just not big enough to support a show that would need extensive work to get the episodes up to HD quality.

To studios, the blu-ray market for tv shows is secondary to securing them for hd broadcast.

Hopefully Star Trek TNG paves the way for a show such as The X-Files. I still have all the original thick dvd cased seasons!

Damn right. The X-Files would really benefit from a re-master and HD release.

X-Files along with a full 24 release would be brilliant.

The X-Files was shot in standard definition, I believe, so I'm not sure how much more detail could be added if it's not there from the outset.

I believe it was shot on film (16mm?) but had the special effects edited on video. Maybe they can do a Star Trek NG type restoration. The DVDS of X-Files are horrible quality

Correct, an HD conversion IS possible and would result in a far superior picture quality to the existing DVDs (I wouldn't say they are horrible, they are perfectly watchable but there is a huge amount of room for improvement).

Given the huge fan-base, I'm surprised that this hasn't yet been done. No doubt the inestimately huge and rich Fox just don't want to spend the money.
