Hello,
I'm looking for a cable that goes from HMDI to VGA. Do they exist (I was told they do) and where can I find them? I have been searching for the last couple of months, but all can seem to find are the HMDI to DVI ones. Which makes sense, as DVI is digital and I guess VGA is not. If the cable I need doesn't exist, would it be possible to use a simple adapter? As in one of those you also get with videocards, this little converter you put between the cable and a device. Or would the connection not fall for that? |

what are you trying to accomplish? i can only asume your trying to run a device into a computer monitor, but to answer your question, no they dont make that type of cable and i wouldnt think an adapter would work. A simple adapter might change the connection but wont automatically convert the digital signal to analog. You'd need some sort of converter box.

Well, it's slightly different; I'm actually trying to get a PS3 to display 720p on a generally SD projector.
However, the native of the projector is 1024x728, so there you go, it's SD. And all it accepts is Video, currently used for the PS3, which looks... usable but pretty bad. Also accepts S-Video, used for the old DVD-player, but can't use it for the PS3 of course. And then it has a VGA-input too, which I've been told should be usable for 720p-HD somehow. Hopefully that's true, so I can at least get the projector to output a sharper image. With games it's especially annoying, as most text just isn't readable, similar to an SD-TV. I'm staring myself crosseyed at the PlayStation Store for example... Anyway, if there isn't simply a cable or any simple adapter, would there be some kind of affordable converter? As in, not over... 50 Dollars or so... which is already more than I planned to spend. Not to forget I'd also have to get a cable of about 5 meters... :\ |
