Default Rear speakers are crackly.

Alright.. well yesterday I posted a thread on getting more out of my surrounds and I used the calibration mic and what not.

But now I got my brackets and hooked them up, and they sound really crackly. I had like 14awg wire connected to the what I believe is 10 coming out of the wall from when my dad built the basement. However, now I have the brackets.. I am just using the raw 10awg. However, it doesn't fit into the Sony speakers so I separated a little bit of it, and just wrapped it around so it would fit in.

Would upgrading speakers make a difference or what? I have an STR-DG820 receiver that does DTS Master, TrueHD, and whatever so I doubt that is the issue..

These speakers are pretty old to be honest, and I believe came in a HTiB and I believe are 6ohms as most HTiB are?

Any advice is helpful..

-Dave

Oh, also.. when I have the volume off or even on.. I get a humming or buzz out of all my speakers. Any tips on getting rid of that?
