Oh it's a great one for that criteria.
it's interesting that TT has ended up with two of Jones' absolute best films.

The Song of Bernadette is her best IMO, but I happen to consider Duel in the Sun and The Man in the Grey Flannel Suit far superior to LIAMST, which IMO is a severely overrated film.

I agree that Duel in the Sun is amazing, but I certainly don't consider LIAMST "severely overrated". I mean, c'mon.

Q: Glad to see Love is a many splendored thing added to your line up. Was it submitted to a recent restoration or will you use the same transfer used by Fox on its studio classic dvd?
TT: The transfer is brand-new -- created last year.

TT: The transfer is brand-new -- created last year.

I saw the film on TCM last November and can vouch for the quality of the transfer. The scene where Jennifer Jones is reading the letter from Bill Holden on the terrace with the sea in the background is no longer shaky and the audio overall lacks the canned-in, boxy feel of the DVD's because the DVD was severely noise-gated. Color and image stability were excellent. However, I can't vouch for grain structure or anything like that since TCMHD broadcasts can't reproduce film grain. That said, Fox's Schawn Belston was involved and Fox has developed a stellar reputation. I expect this transfer to be quite pleasing.

Being big on Best Original Song winners, the main thing I know about this movie (besides the winning title song itself) is how the Academy misspelled it once in its database: "Love is a Many-Spendored Thing".

My copy of LiaMST arrived today and we plan to watch it tonight. I've never seen the movie, so this was a blind buy. Risky when it comes to expensive Twilight Time releases. We'll see....

What an absolutely fair, dated film. It was nice to see old shots of Hong Kong, but this Blu-ray is no blind buy.

Can anyone who owns this Blu-ray pls check your disk and tell me if there is an audio glitch at 24min 21 sec right before the woman in the cafe says "tell me about yourself".

Oh yes there is!!
Can't believe I hadn't noticed that!

Replacement cds in soundtracks have been issued for much less important glitches than this, but i doubt we would get a replacement Bluray for this.
