Default Xbox 360 Headsets

The headset that came with my Xbox unexpectedly died in the middle of a game a couple of days ago. I've been looking online for headsets and, there are a lot of them. Wondering if anyone can recommend one set over another as there are many different sets of all various prices.

Also, would a wireless headset work for both the xbox and PS3? I would prefer one headset if possible. Don't have one for the PS3 at this point but with Resistance 2 coming out in a couple of weeks likely will be picking one up.

Nope the same one wont work due to the PS3 being blue tooth...As far as a headset goes the wireless one for the 360 is pretty nice but you are looking at a 60$ price tag compared to 20$ for another wired one. If it were me Id go with the wired one and put the 40$ towards another game.

I guess a cross platform headset is too much to ask for. Wasn't sure if some third party had done something. I liked the cheapy set that came with the 360, don't need anything overly fancy, just not sure if the others that look like it will work for an extended period of time. None of the ones from MS look like the model that came with the original set.

Yup I hear that, I think the mute button is inline now on the new ones. Another route you could go is for an extra 10$ you could get the chatpad bundle.

Iam using a plantronics one now that I think I picked up for like 20$. It does the job no better or worse then the MS one.

That's great...I think I may go with this. Don't message alot online but when I do, it's pretty annoying to do on screen. Thanks.

My wireless headset stop charging about a month ago. I've had it for about a two years, and am not sure what to do. Any suggestions?

That's what I recomend. I was going through wired headsets like crazy, because I like to put a pillow in my lap and rest my hands on it while playing. It was bending the wire right where it connects to the little volume controller that plugs into the game controller, and causing a short. The wired headset that comes with the chat pad has a completely different connection that is much more difficult to short. I've been using the same one for over a year now. I rarely ever actually plug in the chat pad and use it, but it is nice on rare occasion when you have a lot of typing to do.

I'm guessing you have an older white one where the volume control and mute button are on the piece that plugs into the controller rather than in the middle of the wire. If you want another one of those they're still out there. I was in a local shop a few days ago called Game Over and they had several for sale and they were brand new in the package. I paid close attention to them because they were the topic of discussion so I know I didn't mistake them for the newer ones.

Of course the keypad setup is nice as well I'm sure.

I just dropped $60 for a wireless. Would have liked to get another wired chatpad bundle but my cat chewed through my original wired set so I figured I'd go with wireless to avoid that. Overall impression of the headset is good , the biggest thing is it can be hard to sync up with the controller you want it to but I dont have too much trouble doing that anymore. I guess the other thing that bothers me about it is the ear piece hurts/gets really uncomfortable after about 2 or so hours. These headsets are nice if you really want to spend the extra $20-$30...but unless your worried about your animals chewing through cords then go with the wired headset and put the extra $$ youll save towards a game . Also like the member a few posts above talked about , the batteries do go on these things after a few years then I think your SOL .

I have Turtle Beach X31 which replaced my very worn out X3's. They have been great headsets and I recommend them to everybody who games with me. I also have them hooked up to my Blu-ray player to late night surround sound sessions.

The X31 are RF and to do not receive interference from plasma TV's like the X3.

+1

I use it for both consoles, I love this headset . I've never spent that much on a pair on a headset/headphones, but these were definitely worth it

and they have a bit of a stormtrooper look
