Blu-ray.com Tournament - Sony Pictures Region Round 1! Come Vote!!

[CZAR]

Ok we are underway! Just to be clear for some of those that dont follow march madness here is how it works. This poll will have 16 films but they are in matchups. So for example #1 seed Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark is up against #16 seed Monty Python and the Holy Grail. U only vote for 1 of those films to advance. U do that with every 2 films paired up and u choose 1 of each 2 paired because only 1 film from each pair will advance.

So its not 16 films head to head but they are in pairs head to head. Make sure u vote 1 film for each matchup. This will be opened for 3 days which is plenty of time to get your votes in. The winner of each individual matchup will advance to the 2nd round. Rememeber dont vote for the best 8 out of the 16 but do it on a matchup by matchup basis. If u have any questions feel free to ask!

Also this is not a best of or favorites matchup. I would say vote based on the overall take of the film u either feel is better or that u like better or a combination of both! Its up to u of what films to vote for and why. Make your vote count and please only vote 1 film for each paired matchup so that the voting totals come out correct. Below is the bracket link for this region just to make sure u understand what the matchups are. Here we go. Lets get this started!! Got Em!!

Aliens is a genre classic and one of, if not the, most intense action film of all-time. It also has arguably the greatest female heroine role and performance ever in Weaver's Ripley.

Fight Club is an extremely overrated book by an extremely overrated author that became an extremely overrated movie by an extremely overrated director (in a popular respect, not necessarily in a critical regard).

I agree, but I find a lot of things about this tournament odd, such as The Godfather is a 13 seed and Airplane! is a 3 seed, or that movies like Part II or Citizen Kane aren't even in the competition, but movies like Spider-Man 2, Tombstone, The Blues Brothers, etc. are.

As we get further into the tournament there will be less to nitpick about, because once we get down to a small number of movies, it's no longer a big deal that some were missing.

Top 4 in this one I think will be Raiders, Fellowship, Godfather and Saving Private Ryan.

Not sure about the top 2 or the winner, because Raiders vs Godfather and Saving Private Ryan vs Fellowship of the Ring will probably be close.

Yo Toefer u remember how the seeding was done though right? The Godfather II and Citizen were both eligible in there genre but didnt recieve enough votes. As for the seeding I kept everything on an even playing field to make it more interesting and seeding by votes and placing in your genre. Godfather was like 8th in its category while Airplane was number 1 for its genre so it got a higher seed. Just wanted to make sure u knew how that went down. I think its makes it more interesting that way and to give all the categories and even playing field. No matter the seed voting is still needed. Well see how it turns out. Got Em!!

Cause there are WTF moments for me also when I look at where some of the movies are and why they got the number of votes they have or placing in their respective genre. Again thats the beauty of it. Popular respect and quality are two different things. You're a critic of TDK just as I am--I need not tell you where that's ranked on imdb.

As for disagreeing with what I'm saying, I've mentioned multiple times that I personally think all those things are overrated, so disagreement via ratings and reviews is irrelevant here.
