Default La Traviata

I couldn't wait to get my pre-order from Amazon for the new BD release featuring one of the biggest names in opera these days, Angela Gheorghiu as Violetta, and a promising DTS-HD MA 7.1 lossless audio track to match. I really expected it to be the best La Traviata ever released.

As it turns out, this new BD release is no match for my other two La Traviata releases that I have on DVD.

The audio quality suffered tremendously much to my surprise and chagrin.

The only thing I can meritoriously comment about this La Traviata is the PQ, which is fairly decent. There is plenty of eye candy to behold in the luxurious and lavish lifestyle of the rich Parisian bourgeoisie especially when Act I opens.

I don't recommend buying it. I ended up returning mine for a refund.

Now I will just have to wait for Opus Arte to release La Traviata. I have three of their operas on BD and every one has magnificent and superb sound quality in good ole PCM 5.1. I have no doubt that they will do it again with their La Traviata release.
