USA What Single (45 RPM) Are U Listening To Now?

I figure the "album thread" is quite a sucsess here, I've started a thread devoted to the mighty
single AKA the 45 RPM. Remember many single mixes were exclusive and not on albums. I'm sure some of you have some 45's in your vinyl collection I have many from the 50's, 60's , 70's and 80's (some with original picture sleeves!)

We will start with an absolute classic

The Beatles "Hey Jude" b/w "Revolution" (original Apple 45) A DOUBLE "A" SIDE!

This sucks....for me anyway! I don't own any single 45's. I think at one time I had maybe 30-40, but that's it. I don't even remember what I did with them.

I'll just follow this thread and see if any of the singles inspire me to pull out an album.

On Hey Jude though!

John

Richard Harris "MacArthur Park" (Dunhill 45) Great song with strange lyrics, and one of the longest songs to be pressed on a 45 clocking in at 7:23!

Default Little Richard

The last 45 I listened to the other day was Little Richard's "Jenny Jenny". It's 53 years old and in pristine condition. I wanted to show a friend how good an old 45 can sound if it has been cared for.

Yep, just played Dave "Baby" Cortez' "The Happy Organ" (original "Clock" label 45) It's in great condition and sounds superb, actually better than a the version a CD compilation that I have which has the same song!

I have "The Happy Organ" on Clock also! It makes me think of another song of the same time, "You Can't Sit Down" by the Philip Upchurch Combo.

I used to own a ton. Sold it all when I moved to Atlanta to 1991. This is one of the last 45s I bought.

Queen "Liar" (Elektra 45) While for the most part I like 45 single mixes of songs, this one is BAD (and not in good way either), Elektra took a six and a half album cut and spliced and diced it to a little over 3 min. Sounds like it was edited by a 4 year old!
